The “image” in Revelation 13:14-15 is the “handwriting of ordinances” (statements of faith, church constitutions, by-laws, statutes, creeds, etc) that the church scribes have written for us to keep and serve rather than the keeping and serving of God’s laws which are written upon our hearts.
The earthly-minded false prophet comes to preach “another jesus”….who is the first beast. He preaches deceptively to them that “dwell on the earth”….that is, people who are focusing on earthly things more than they are focusing on the things above. Colossians 3:2 .
They are easily deceived because their focus is on earthly things. The “thieves”….the false prophets… break in and steal when one sets his heart upon earthly things….”dwelling on the earth.” Matthew 6:19-21 .
The false prophet says that they who dwell upon the earth should make or DO an image to the beast (the false Christ). Again, this “image” is the handwriting of their church ordinances that they want you to willingly and subserviently keep and worship.
The “deadly wound “ of the first beast is HEALED.
Revelation 13:12. What is being said here is that the “daily” sacrifice of the Lord (the “Lamb slain”) has ceased in those who follow after the first beast….the “another jesus” who is the opposite of the Lamb slain. They have ceased dying to the sin. They have ceased mortifying/slaying the sin with the sword of the Spirit that was given to them. Romans 8:13 . Colossians 3:5 .
Rev 13:14-16 KJV
(14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
When the “daily” sacrifice of the Lamb slain is ceased (the deadly wound is healed), they set up the “image” for you to keep and serve by “killing” others who do not worship the church handwriting of ordinances. That is, they use their breath/spirit to judge others who do not keep their church handwritings. Judging others is not having love for them.
They become judge, jury and executioner of others in their words and not literally “killing” others. Whoever hates their brother is a murderer….and no murder has an age-lasting life dwelling in them. 1 John 3:15 .
(15) And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And so they become slaves to the sin…judging others via their handwritings (the “image”) as they continue to practice it by their works or in their thoughts.
(16) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
They changed the glory of God into an “image” made like corruptible man….as the outside world have their handwritings (such as “constitutions”) that they use to self govern and judge themselves with. They have placed these images …their patterned-after-the-world’s handwritings…in their places of worship….where God’s name is named.
Rom 1:22-25 KJV
(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
(23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
This has made them unclean. God has “gave them up” ….as His glory has departed from them…to their uncleanness. They dishonor their mortal bodies between themselves. They are all mortally perishing without having an age-lasting life that is promised to those who truly serve and worship Him from the heart.
(24) Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
(25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
This “image”…the church scribes’ handwritings that are established/standing in every “church” gathering…stands where His name is being named. This causes His glory to depart. It brings desolation. That house is made desolate as the glory of God has departed from it because of the abomination...the standing church handwriting of ordinances.
Mat 24:15-16 KJV
(15) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)
(16) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
The “idols” are the “graven images” of the church scribes’ handwritings of ordinances. They should not be “standing” in His sanctuary…the holy place… where we come together to worship Him. They are being bowed down to by those who have them standing/established in the holy place.
Lev 26:1-3 KJV
(1) Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.
(2) Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
Instead of worshipping the “image” of the church handwritings of ordinances, we are to walk in HIS statutes and keep HIS commandments and DO them. His laws are written in our hearts. His kingdom/government is within us.
(3) If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
The “graven images” of the nations are not to be brought into our “house”…the church gathering….the holy place. They should be burned with fire from our existence. We should not desire to have man's handwritings within our places of worship.....or else we are tripped up/trapped by them and fall into the grave. They are an abomination to the LORD our God...that is, our only Living Judge.
The outside nations use them to self-govern and judge themselves. They are “other gods”…that is, other judges… rather than be serving THE Living Judge. The outside nations are not in the government/kingdom of God like we are. We do not need external handwritings like them to self-govern and to judge ourselves and others with.
Deu 7:25-26 KJV
(25) The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
Do not bring the abomination....man's handwriting of ordinances...into our house lest we be a cursed thing like it. "cursed" = chêrem - something devoted to destruction. We are destroyed when we bring them into our places of worship.
(26) Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Do not trust in the lying words of the false prophets. They praise their handwritings…. “burning incense unto the Baal” that they have willfully submitted to. They walk after other gods…other judges…whom we know not (as their external handwritings is not written within our hearts by Him internally).
Jer 7:8-11 KJV
(8) Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
(9) Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
These things should not be “standing in the holy place”….this house which is called by His name. We are not delivered to do all of these abominations.
(10) And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
(11) Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
The false prophets say to us the “temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD”. Lo here, Lo there. Do not believe them.
Jer 7:3-7 KJV
(3) Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
(4) Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.
(5) For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
(6) If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:
If we completely amend our ways and our doings then He will cause us to dwell in this place…in this earth “forever and ever”. We shall not mortally die but shall have an age-lasting life into this age and the next where we shall have put on immortality…never seeing death. We shall never die and will inherit this earth that we are living in.
(7) Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever
