  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In earlier posts on the topic of the financial bailout of banks in the US I came out tenatively supporting it with the attitude that we basically had no choice.

I now formally announce that I have realized the error of my ways. My former opinion was incorrect :) I put too much faith in what I was hearing from talking heads on TV.

Yes, I think I agree too - but unlike a President & politicians, they can't change votes once they've made them.

This leads me to analyze this: does anyone think maybe since we stopped seeking GOD'S counsel in this land that now we're living without God's wisdom for our leadership who goes their own way & is making alot of mistakes?

(then again, we're called to pray for our leaders too)... are we praying for them? I know I do but probly not as much as I should

NOBODY knows WHAT the heck is going on. Gather 20 economists and historians, and you'll get 50 opinions from them.
sounds like confusion - and like God isn't leading us anymore

(can't blame Him when we ignore Him & work to kick Him out of the nation

If you mean us as the Church He is there~~if you mean us as a nation then why would He respect the US anymore than any other nation?

I don't know why you're leaping to any assumption that I claimed God respects us "more" than any other nations?

God can lead a nation without respecting it "more" than another.

& I meant nationally not the church.

When did He start to lead the US? When did He stop? Is there a defining time when we can point and say "Yes, God was leading the US then?"

I agree, that's beside the fact that the US has never been a "Christian nation" although it has been a nation filled with Christians.

gosh guys... take yer shoes off & RELAX a little today - it's
the Sabbath!!

Who said God HASN'T led this nation?? We used to honor Him around here for some 200 yrs - we were blessed and prospered and other countries viewed America as Christian.

You keep reading things into my posts that I never said. Did I SAY this was a Christian nation? Nope. But the founding fathers acknowledged God in the foundings of America.
Now you mite want to nitpick about which one is a Deist, but they all weren't & there is some Christianity in the inceptions of the country.
D James Kennedy studied all kinds of history and relayed those facts.

The nation used to follow Judea Christian principles for morality thru the land and many were Christian. If you want to believe that God's had NOTHING whatsoever to do with this country or leading any of our leaders, then by all means, think that God hasn't bothered with us.
I for one don't.

Just to expound a bit...I don't consider God led or leads this nation in the same manner as Israel...

...but undeniably...there was a time when God was honored by the majority of Americans and a good many politicians too.

Not sure when exactly God became the villian in the US...

...but I think it was around the time we ask Him to leave our school system...ummmm...I think it was around 1963...maybe 69...I can't remember...

but since that time...every social/moral indicator has begun to drop exponentially...and every place God tries to show up....we pretty much ask Him to leave...He's bound to listen sooner or later...but it will be on His timetable...not ours.

...and when He's gone for good from this nation...I shudder to think..

I didn't bother to learn history - but I always tied the hippy influx to morals decreasing and being fought against in America.
Am I off on that?
