Is that an ugly word? Are you guys prepared or preparing for it? Or do you see yourselves as having to work for Lord knows how long?

I guess I'm thinking about it because my dad's retiring next spring...he'll be just shy of his 62nd birthday. My DH's mom is thinking about retiring the beginning of next year (she'll be just shy of 61).

I mean, that's only 20 years from now!! :o (for me, that is) That's one reason I'm going to have to return to work when Andie's in school full-time, to help save for those "Golden Years."

Anyways....I guess there's no real point to this thread, I'm just kinda thinking out loud....:sorry:

One good way to help save for retirement is a 401K plan or other similar plan.
The money gets pulled out now but you do NOT pay taxes on it now.
You pay later when you use it after retirement which will be at a lower rate.

I wish I had been smart enough when I first starting working.
But I only signed up a few years back.

I retired in September due to my health.
I had enough years in with the same company to get decent benefits.
I have not touched the 401K money yet - it is my safety net.

My biggest issue is still having a purpose and ministry.
That is why I am enjoying my time here at CF.

I'm a ways from retiring - we still have a daughter in college and help with tuition, we bought a new house 2 years ago so have that to think about. Plus, I like working - I need to be busy. However, when Hannah's done with college I'm thinking that a less stressful job would be nice. I can't see staying at my current job much more than another 5 years. Who knows though.
