I`m depressed because my nan wants me to say good afternoon when I come come when when she comes home or I do anything to her I don`t get the smallest thank you or good afternoon or how was school. THis annoys me because everything I have to say thank you or what ever and when I ask for the smallest thing, I get shouted at. I stood up to her today and she's calling me rude. WHAT?! I`m bringing your snacks, i`m stopping what i`m doing just for you, You don`t even give me respect. Why give you? It annoys me how she always thinks she's right and just because i`m younger than her, I have to give her respect. She gives me, I give her. THe end.

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
Respectable depression?

It's tough being young because you are starting to develop a mind of your own but you aren't totally independent yet. There is a lot going on in the lives of young people that can make life really frustrating. Society has a lot of stereotypes about young people. All of this will pass, and eventually you will be on your own, making your own decisions, dealing with your own set of responsibilities. In the meantime, try to remember that people aren't perfect. Was there ever a time when you hurt someone without meaning to? What if people never forgave us when we hurt them? If someone is bothering you, try to forgive them. If you have people in your life who love you, that is the most important thing. Everyone hurts each other at some point - even us - we hurt people we love. But if there is love there, then we can always get through it. If your nan loves you, then try to forgive her when she bothers you. She might be acting that way because that is how she was treated when she was young. Also - our elders do deserve our respect. I think one of the hardest things to learn in life is that it is really important to respect others, even when they don't respect us. It may not make much sense to you now, but trust me - this is one of the most important life lessons someone can learn. If you can ever get to a point where you understand this, you'll find that you personally will be a lot happier. This life lesson is one of the secrets to happiness....
