No, a person must make their decision while alive. Luke 16 basically shows us the same situation in reverse. Person who is dead wants to warn his living relatives, but is denied that opportunity.

Luke 16:27-31
27 Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' 29 Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' 30 And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' 31 But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' "

I know how difficult that this must be, because all indications are that my brother in law also died unsaved. The most important thing that we who are alive can learn from this is the importance of getting the gospel to those who are still alive so that we can see as many as possible saved from that fate.

For those of us who end up saved, with relatives or friends who are not saved, God gives us a promise:

Rev 21:4
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
NKJV

Somehow, God will be able to bring comfort to us in heaven.

Why do you say you need to see your dad again?

I am sorry if your father is not in heaven, but no, you can't save someone from the pit of fire. The only way I think that your father can escape the flames is if he were to ressurect, come up from the grave. Jesus escaped from hell through ressurection. If that doesn't happen then when you get to heaven, you won't even care. There is no sorrow in heaven, but the acceptence of the finality of eternity. Sorry bro.

Sorry, but I have to agree with the others. If your dad is in hell, it won't be possible for you to get him out. Nothing in the Bible indicates a possibility like that. I pray that he did accept Christ at the end.

The reasons I want to see my Dad again are many. Basically he did so much for me, beyond what I saw other Dad's do for their own son's. I need to see him again and thank him. When I die, thats the first thing I'll ask; did my Dad make it? if so, Great! If not, can I have permission to rescue him.

Believe me, I am preparing in my heart and spirit to take on anything that comes before me, as long as God gives the OK, I'm going to see my Dad again.

Rescue is not possible. If you could bring your father out of hell, that would another path to salvation other than the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross. It would mean that you, not Christ has saved your father. That is not possible. Your father having died is not spirit, not flesh. Sins committed in the flesh must be paid for by the shedding of blood. Christ died on the cross to shed His blood for us that we might not need to suffer the penalty of sin. Blood can only be shed for flesh, not spirit. The demons cannot be saved because shedding blood canot save them. Receiving Christ as Saviour must be an act of faith according to scripture. Once one has died, it is no also no longer an act of faith because those who have died now know the truth and no longer have faith but knowledge.

Existence in hell is permanent not temporary, and the only way out is not to get there in the first place. As i said previously, God has promised to give us comfort and to wipe away our tears, but He did not give any option for those who did not receive Christ as Saviour in faith while on earth.

I'm just curious, but are you saying that after Jesus died He went to hell ?

The Bible has the final word and God isn't going to give you permission to get anyone out of hell. I wish we could, but it's not going to happen.
