I just started a meetup here in Washington State to get Democrats and Republicans together who wish to vote for a 3rd party candidate. The general concept goes like this...
Washington is a mail in ballot state so we have the ability to fill out or voting card in the presence of another person. What we're trying to do is to hook up polar political opposites who fear that a vote for a 3rd party candidate would amount to support for your political adversary, so that they can do a 1 for 1 vote swap for the 3rd party candidate of your conscience.
The website for this meetup is http://libertarian.meetup.com/409/[*link removed*] is you’re interested the details of this, but I hope that this will grow in strength and interest as we get closer and closer to November. I have the event on the calendar in our local newspaper and have requested press coverage of our meeting. With that we hope to go to the local talk radio shows in the Seattle area, and try to drum up support for this trough them by pitting liberal against conservative views and positions.
Anyhow, I just thought I’d share the idea with you all in the hopes that perhaps it is something that you might consider starting in your local community!
