I posted this poem awhile ago in another part of the forums. A friend has suggested I post it in this one. So I hope no one minds seeing it again if they saw it the first time. And to let you all know, this realy did happen.

God Can Renew All Things

I went walking with God,
one fine day.
I talked with him,
along the way.

I said...

"Forgive me Dear Lord,
I've gone astray.
Please hear these words,
to thee I pray.

I've chased after my dreams,
and own earthly desires.
My heart for you,
was no longer on fire.

Can you forgive me?
I know you can.
But why would you want to,
when from you I ran?

I looked for acceptence,
from people you see.
Forgetting, only you,
should be important to me.

Your spirit within me,
I ask.
Will you renew?
Why should you want to,
when from you I flew?

I wish you would show me,
that I've been forgiven.
My life, for you,
I want to be living.

I fear that I've strayed,
too far away.
For you to forgive me,
in any way."

Then my eyes spotted...

something new.
Some flowers,
were getting,
ready to bloom.

These flowers,
you see,
should have been dead.
I never planted them,
in any bed.

They sat out in the elements,
two years in a row.
No soil around them,
to help them grow.

God had renewed them,
just for me.
This is something,
he gave,
so I could see.

How he can,
and will,
renew all things.
While bestowing upon us,
his many blessings.

This is so simple, and so deep, and so like our God. I read this over a few times and each time God speaks to me in a different way, and I see a different lesson.

I think I could write a book on each of the many lessons. This poem is like something a Pastor friend of mine did not long ago. Each Sunday for a number of weeks, he used the same text from the Bible, but each time it was a differnt sermon. COMPLETELY different. In that time he must have preach a dozen different sermons with the same text. This poem seem to be much like that.

I am glad your friend suggested you post it here, because I missed it the first time, and it seems almost like it has my name on it. It is almost like my testimony.

Thanks Gerry,
I just love the story about your pastor, I find it amazing how many different lessons can be pulled out of just one event that takes place in the Bible.

I once sent this poem to a friend through email. I knew she would send it to everyone in her address book lol! It would end up going out to many people I know who aren't Christians and some that are. A couple days later she fowarded me an email she got back from someone, It simply said the poem had touched them deeply, and was asking her to thank me for teaching them how to talk to God again.

I could have so easily not sent it out, knowing all who would see it. knowing what some of those people would think that it would get sent out to. I now rejoice that I didn't let those little things stop me.

I pray we will always be able to share with everyone around us those things that God gives us to share. That we will never hide them for fear of what others might think.
