The Jews were under a Theocracy. The laws pertained to them as a nation. The nation of Israel was under the law aka Torah. The take away .... this Theocracy no longer exists as the law was fulfilled. He made a new Covenant with all who follow Him, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
So we don't, any of us, ever do any kind of work at all for God, on the Sabbath Day at all ever, etc, not even God's work, or a work of God on the Sabbath Day ever, etc...?
I'm curious then, what then qualifies, or else does not qualify, in your mind then, as God's work, or a work of God or not, (being done on the Sabbath or not) then, etc...?
Did Jesus sin then, because He was doing God's work on the Sabbath Day, cause that's exactly what the Pharisees thought, cause they said it was "absolutely no work of any kind at all ever" (on the Sabbath Day), etc...?
Just trying to figure out your way of thinking on this, etc...?
God Bless!
I do not believe in stoning people for working on the seventh day. I let them decide what they want to do on that day.
Thanks, but I won't be wrestling the Scripture (2Pe 3:16) of Jn 13:34.Do you agree that Love "always was", etc, and always existed in, and even from before, the very beginning, etc...?
Yes or No, etc...?
God Bless!
If you knew my life, and how hard it is just to know what time it is sometimes, let alone what day it is, etc, you just might have a good laugh, etc, Lol...Yes, like Jesus talked about how everyone back then agreed that it was lawful to circumcise on the Sabbath day.
How much better to make an entire person whole, or to at least help them change their flat tire!
But like you were talking about, be fully convinced in your own mind.
Peace!
Yes, the NT has a word for "new" and a different word for "renew".Thanks, but the word is kainos, and it means several things: new, recent, newly made, fresh.
And Jesus stated the consequences of disobeying those new commands.
I think this is the reasoning of the synagogue official. Jesus has just healed someone who was oppressed for 18 years. He heals her on the Sabbath. Thanks for the questions. First of all, the fourth commandments that I quoted is God's Words, not mine. We should get our direction on all things from the Bible, including how do you keep God's Holy day.
Jesus never sinned, but was accused of sinning by people who made Sabbath a curse and not the blessing it is supposed to be. (Similar to all the pushback you get on Gods Sabbath now- not a lot has changed).
Gods Sabbath was established from creation Genesis 2:3 and will continue on the New Earth Isaiah 66:23. We are told it is an everlasting covenant Exodus 31:16
We are told to set aside week-day pleasures and pursuits on the Sabbath
Isaiah 58:13, 14 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
We should do good on the Sabbath Mathew 12:11-13
Jesus said He made Sabbath for man Mark 2:27
What Jesus taught about Sabbath-keeping Luke 14:1-5
How I keep Sabbath is by going to church, reading the Bible, Bible studies, praying, watching online sermons and if I can do something good like visit my grandma or help someone in need I do that as well. To give an example- if my neighbor needs help with a fence, I consider that work and can do that on Sunday-Friday, but if my neighbor gets in an accident and needs me to drive them to the ER, that I can do.
There is a lot more to be said about the Sabbath. The Sabbath is an important part of the Bible throughout the OT and NT.
I hope this helps.
God bless.
Yes, "renew" is anakainizo, (v), however, the word used in Jn 13:34 is kainos, (adj).Yes, the NT has a word for "new" and a different word for "renew".
Jesus was telling them it was "new" because it was "new to them", etc, since He was speaking to Jews under the OT law covenant of Moses, etc, and He knew that, etc, which is why He said it was "new" to them, etc...Yes, "renew" is anakainizo, (v), however, the word used in Jn 13:34 is kainos, (adj).
It was new in the sense that it instituted a brotherhood in Christ's love for them, but it is his same hallmark commandment (Mt 22:37-40).Jesus was telling them it was "new" because it was "new to them", etc, since He was speaking to Jews under the OT law covenant of Moses, etc, and He knew that, etc, which is why He said it was "new" to them, etc...
But it is both what was, and both always has been/existed from the beginning, etc, and even before that, etc, see the books of 1 John and 2 John for that, as I'm not going to do your work for you right now, etc...
New and also very very old, etc...
And it was also part of the covenant of faith that existed before the law also, etc, the covenant Abraham, Issac, and Jacob (and Joseph) (and his brothers) were under, etc, before Moses, etc...
Or the covenant that existed in Genesis and before we get into Exodus, etc...
Do you believe God existed both in and from before the beginning, etc...?
Cause if you do, then Love did, etc, cause God is Love, etc...
And surely you know that scripture, etc...
Anyway,
God Bless!
OK, since you want to quote Matthew then, then what about Matthew 22:40 then...? Where He said upon these two greatest of all commandments the whole rest of the OT law hanged, or hung or hinged, etc...?It was new in the sense that it instituted a brotherhood in Christ's love for them, but it is his same hallmark commandment (Mt 22:37-40).

That compliance with those two laws puts you in compliance with all Scripture.OK, since you want to quote Matthew then, then what about Matthew 22:40 then...? Where He said upon these two greatest of all commandments the whole rest of the OT law hanged, or hung or hinged, etc...?
What do you think He meant by that, etc...?
Do you maybe perhaps think that He maybe meant "got it's origins" or "pre-dated them" maybe, etc...?
Yes...? No...?
What do you think...?
God Bless!
We have something in common.
That both is and has always been "from the beginning", correct...?That compliance with those two laws puts you in compliance with all Scripture.
It's more like a prayer book to me in the sense that I read it to know God. Just about everything about him is new.Good deal!
So, when you read it again, do you ever find anything 'new' to you?
You're going to have to be more specific if I am going to understand you. That both is and has always been "from the beginning", correct...?
And that was, all both in, and was a part of God/in God/was God, etc, since that time, correct...?
Being both "The Word", and "Love", right...?
Yes...? No...?
God Bless!
What law?
Scripture (the Word) was already in (the mind/heart of) God from the very beginning, correct...?You're going to have to be more specific if I am going to understand you.
