• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I would like to remind everyone that everything that is posted in your post must comply with the rules. If you post a link, the contents of the link, also, must comply with the rules. Therefore, you need to be aware of what the link says so that your post is not found to be a violation.

For example, if a link contains swear words or words that would trip the profanity filter if it was posted on CF, then that link is not an acceptable link. If you want to post something found in that link, you need to do a quick google (or other type of) search to find a link that is acceptable.

Another example is that if a link contains language which flames members, or groups of members, on CF, that link is not acceptable. Again, do a search to try to find the information on another site where the language is acceptable.

The criterion for flaming would need to be more relaxed for councils and canons in history. Many canons -- Orange, Trent, Dordt, Chalcedon, even Nicea -- would be interpreted as flaming those outside their bounds. Commentaries during the Reformation use particularly intense language on both sides of the issues.

Even some contemporary published books use language that would be considered flaming on CF. Roger Olsen, Gordon Olson, John Rice and even Norm Geisler twist definitions of Calvinism in their specific areas of theology. To address any of these writers' mistaken allegations, we have to wade through accusations of hypercalvinism.

As usual, I don't know how to address the issue, I've just noticed it happens. Generally I check the post to verify that its content is not offensive, but it's true certain ways of advocating links & citations can be very provocative.
