  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Remember when you told DH??

It was very simple. We both knew I was testing that morning (around 5h30) and we were both nervous, we didn't talk at all! He went into the shower as soon as he got up and I tested during that time. I waited till he done showering, I walked into the bathroom and held up the test, smiling. He was like "No way!!" and was really excited.

It was on Friday, Nov 23, 2006. He was sitting in front of this computer, it was around 8pm and I came and sat in his lap and whispered in his ear "I´m pregnant". He just looked at me and then started to hug me. We were so happy, and still are. In about a month the baby will be here!

Aww, well, I wasn't able to tell my husband as I wasn't and still am not married, but telling the father is still a special moment and I would like to share. :)

After a doctor appointment I had to get results of an ultrasound I had done to see if I had PCOS (I don't, but the results were I was 7 weeks pregnant.) I went to meet the unknowing daddy for lunch at work. We went to a nearby mall, ordered chinese food, and I asked him how he thought things were going lately... and I barely gave him time to answer before I said "I'm pregnant." He let out a very slight chuckle, cuz I think for a brief second he thought I was kidding (especially when 2 days previous, I was having an unknowingly hormonal moment and called him in tears and said I had something for him--he asked if it was a baby! I said no... lol) and he didn't say a thing and within a few seconds I went into my purse and pulled out the paper that proved it! As wrong as it was, not being married and already in a messy situation, it was still a beautiful moment. Something within ya just "clicks"... we couldn't help but feel that warmth it all brings. Then once that wore off a bit, it was "well! We got some things to figure out!" HEHE! And yeah, as I said, the moment was special, and remininced over when we have chinese food or sit in the same seat at the mall. :)

Hmm, I guess it was on the 24th, because the 23 was a Thursday and that´s when I tested positive the first time. I did a second test in the afternoon of 24th so sorry, I made a mistake when I wrote Friday 23rd, it was Friday, November 24th 2006.
Green Orchid, I´m due on July 31rd. I wonder if you´ll beat us guys or if we make it first???? It´s my first and here in Sweden it´s said that firsttimers always (almost) always are late when it comes to delivering.

I waited until the day after Christmas to test because I was sure I wasn't pregnant, and didn't want to spend the holiday feeling dissapointed. Well, I didn't have to worry! The morning of the 26th I took a test, hubby knew I was taking it, and waited for the results. When it said pregnant, I walked out to the kitchen and said, "Well, guess what?" and told him the news. It took a few days for the complete shock to wear off, but after that, we were both very excited! :)

I think I lurk here for the same reasons as you Happy.

I cooked my husband a nice dinner (risotto:D), bought a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne, lit a candle, and told him at the end of dinner...I was so stoked all afternoon and couldn't wait to tell him, then when it came to the actual moment I was quite a chicken - it took me a long time to get up the nerves to say it.

Well i told my hubby that i thought i might be pregnant but then we did a test and it came up negitive.

so we just waited for my period to come, a few weeks later still no period so my hubby just said one morning you should go get a test and see what happens.

I got the test and he rang me in his lunch break the first thing he said was "have you done the test?" and i said "yep" and he said "welllllll?" and i said "YOUR GOING TO BE A DADDY!" and he was all like "OH MY GOODNESS YAY!"

so not very creative but a good story none the less.

DD#1 - He went into work on a Sat. morning to get some things done. As soon as he left, I got up and tested and it was positive. I called him at work and left a voice mail to call me back right away. He did and I told him he needed to come home, but wouln't tell him why. So he got back in his car and came home (he lived about 15 min. from work). I had the test wrapped and he unwrapped it looked at it and said yeah - it's positive. Paused and said IT"S POSITIVE. We both laughed and cried.

DS#1 - I tested again when he was at work. It was positive so I took one af our daughter's onsies and decorated it with the words I'm the Big Sister and took a digital photo of her and e-mailed it to him at work.

DS#2 - We had had 2 miscarriages and were trying again. We both went into the bathroom and I took the test. We sat down togehter and he held me - we looked at the digital readout and it said PREGNANT - we just smiled.

DD#2 - We had gotten back from vacation and I had called our daughters school to inquire about a few teaching positions they had open. Turns out all that was left was the music position (and I only sound good singing in the shower and car), I was so bummed and DH said to me "maybe God has other plan, maybe you're pregnant" - I just smiled at him like he was crazy. The next day those words kept running in my mind, so I took a test and he was right:) I called him at work and said "I know that I don't say this too often but YOU'RE RIGHT - he said right about what and I said God has his plans and they will be taking about 9 months to complete.

I love hearing those stories, Im sure there are tons on here...but Im a newbie...and Im stalking this board, and whould love to hear new ideas of How to tell the husband!

Congrats! I don't have my story to tell (yet), but on Full House Becky attempted to tell Jesse by making him a dinner filled with "baby" food items (i.e. baby carrots, baby back ribs, etc.) Of course Jesse had just gotten a recording contract and was super-excited about that, and missed the entire point of Becky's dinner. ^_^

With my first daugther, I bought a preg test and waited until the morning of my husband's birthday (I was a week or two late) to take it. As he slept unknowingly I took the test at his parents house where we were staying at the time.

After quiet freaking out in excitement in the bathroom, I quietly went into the room and hugged him. I whispered his name as I nudged his arm to wake him up and said "Happy Birthday." Half asleep he sort of sighed a "hmmm?" and then I said "I'm pregnant."

After lifting his head a bit with sleepy eyes looking at me, he said "what?" I repeated the news and as a smile stretched across his face he laid his head back down on the pillow with his eyes closed.

Then he said to go tell Gramma (who was cooking breakfast in the other room) and when I told her we both cried and hugged as she burnt her breakfast! haha

With my second preg test, we just knew. I had asked my sister to pick up a p-test for me, but in my impatience I rushed out to get one and drove into our driveway at the exact moment my sister did. Sheepishly I told her where I had come from. She shook her head at me and laughed saying "I'm not that late" I chuckled as I took the test to the bathroom. I waited with excitement as I watched the pink line appear. I came out and said to my husband and sister - "Yep, I am!" He then said "Call Gramma!" haha

Well, I had been extremely emotional for about a week and my husband thought I was sick and I thought I was becoming bi-polar!^_^ I came home one Saturday and took a test and left it on the bathroom sink to do its thing. The phone rang and it was my husband. I was chatting with him, went back into the bathroom to check the results and...."Um, Honey there is two lines on this thing. That means I'm pregnant." There was this shocked silence on the other end (we had only been trying for a week or two!) and then he said "I'm THRILLED, excited and scared to believe it." When he got home, he looked at the two lines and then he believed it.

I also remember that Full House episode! Next baby, I'll aim to do something fun like that.

We'd been trying for a while before I got pregnant and that morning I'd taken a test which didn't appear positive at first so I just tossed it into the trash and went back to bed. 2 hours later, I had this urge to check and it had a second line. By this time, DH was already at work and I wasn't sure that it was a positive because it could definitely have been an evap line. So I ranted about it with my coworkers and on my lunch break, I took another test after calling my mom to see what she thought and that came up positive almost immediately.

Soon, I had to go back to work and my boss knew something was up immediately and was like, "What's going on??" So I kind of blurted, "I just got a second line on a pregnancy test and my husband doesn't even know yet!" She sent me right out of there to go tell my husband at work.

My husband thought that someone had died because I'd never visited him at work before (he's a teacher)... but I kind of whispered that I was pregnant. He's like, "Are you sure?" I whipped out the stick and showed him. His eyes got really big and he's like, "Oh. I'll talk to you when I get home!" Then he hugged me and went back into his classroom.

LOL! When he got home he was super excited and told me that he didn't know what to do when he went back into his classroom because he wanted to cry from joy and tell everyone but he had to keep it quiet. Haha!
