  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My university (public university) includes several colleges that are affiliated with various Christian churches or denominations. There is a Catholic college, a Lutheran college, an Anglican college, etc. within the larger university. Therefore, Christianity is clearly visible and available to anyone on the campus. There are also some Christian organizations such as Campus Crusade. That said, the university as a whole definitely has a secular flavor to it.

I go to a public university so there is not a lot of religion that is flashed around...there are alot of organizations but they are hard to find, you have to know where to go and look!! I have not found a group of christians that I have felt connected with yet!! I think it is always harder at a public university than a private one...

Yeah. I go to public university. We have Campus Crusade Ministry for Christ, International Friends Christian club, Menorah Ministry, Denver Fire House church ministry, Chabad of Auraria Campus ministry, Christian Challenge, the list just goes on and on. If you guys want more info just go to the Metropolitan State College of Denver (mscd.edu) and University of Colorado at Denver (cudenver.edu) Website.

Just wondering how much religion or clearly religious people are 'visible' on your campus.

I go to a pretty big public college, and we're got a bunch of groups. Campus Crusade, InterVarsity, BASIC, Baptist Campus Ministries, Gospel Fellowship, etc. A couple are pretty well known, Campus Crusade for Christ even got positive feedback in an editorial in the school paper! God is doing great things here.

I go to a public university and there really is quite a bit of religion on campus. Every bullitenboard in every building on campus has posters up for all of the Christian ministries on campus, including Campus Crusade for Christ (which I attend.). The people (including professors) are all very open with discussing religion also.

We have a very very open culture here at the University of Louisville. The center of Campus has an interfaith center and a Baptist Student Union, both of which have many events and are visible on campus. At the same time non Christian groups or groups that may disagree with said Christian groups are just as welcome. I rarely rarely hear anyone complain or make fun of ANY of these groups except when they get overly pushy and annoying. Well, we didn't like it much when the KKK came but other than its all good.

I love being from the conservative state of Texas as there are 3 churches on one road. My school is a public school yet there are huge organizations promoting our faith like chi alpha which I am in and has 500 members. Not bragging but say if each one of those 500 members brings a friend and they bring a friend and so on and so forth the whole population of 15,000 may be touched

How much chance do you think that a non-believer has to discover these christian groups, and to get interested in it, with no christian background or initial interest ?

Anyway, i'm in a quite little "school" (i say school because it's not university, but it's university level - in the french system we have "grandes écoles"). There's about 200 hundred people per year, that is about 600 for the 3 years of school. And i'm happy enough to have found 2 christian friends, but i'm not aware if there is any other christian attending the school.

well there is this ISFM (internation student fellowship meeting) program put on by Chi Alpha so most of the people that are staffing it are christians. Now they are not supposed to preach because the schol has helped sponsor it a bit. So this may be a good thing and not turning people off and way from christianity. My fellow christians that are in it just love and serve the people and just listen to them. We cook food and have fellowship
