  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wanted to start this post off with an acronym that begins with W but it would just be censored and reported :p

Anyway, seriously, what is going on?!?!

Did anyone else expect their relationships in their 20's to be more mature, loving, lasting relationships defined by a distinct lack of drama and clear lines of communication? I did and boy do I get more and more surprised each and every day.

I'm 26 now and I look around at my peers, and my past relationships, and I can't help but think of it all as High School Part 2. Same ole drama with a different face.

Someday, I hope enter into a relationship where two consenting adults take control of their lives and make a conscious and responsible decision to spend the rest of their lives together, minus the drama.

Sorry for sounding like Eeyore but I just expected things to be different at this age.

I know! And it's why for the most part, I've resigned myself to just working on my career and amassing vast sums of money. Haha. I'm turning into Scrooge McDuck.

It's just ridiculous, really. I feel like the public school system: we dumb down our standards, and you still don't pass?!?! I give up!

For me, I just want someone I'm attracted to who is intelligent and a Christian and who is looking to get married sometime in the next 2-3 years. I guess that's too much to ask!

I think I will dumb my standards down even more man.

1. She must be a Christian
2. I must find her to be cute

So she doesn't even have to be looking to get married right now and she doesn't have to be the brightest crayon in the box.

This is a catch 22.

You know what matures someone. Someone giving them support. Someone who isn't afraid to tell them when they are truly doing something wrong, like it will ruin their life if they do it - not something that may inconvience you, and at the same time, be behind them to do something that is good for their life.

You guys need to take a hard look at yourself. Being in a relationship for guys is about 4 things - taking care of her, taking care of your children, protecting her and your children, and guiding her and your children.

And to do all of that, you have to compromise.

Yup. The decade of your 20's has turned into an extended adolescence instead of the beginning of man/womanhood.

Keep your chin up, DB. 30 is almost here :D I know that's not an attractive thought, but honestly, the age of finding "mature adults" is going up and up.

Man, I hear ya. I think that relationships now are even more pathetic. Because at least when I was a teen and did stupid crap, at least I had an excuse - immaturity. Now, we have no excuse.

And now, you can't even some of the 4 things you talked about. So many girls nowadays are "independent women" and don't even want you to take care of them.

And then I look at some of the guys, and I think, gosh what losers. Get a real job, stop playing so many video games, GROW UP.

It sure is going up and up. And it makes me anxious tbh. I feel like I'm lost in a maze.

Pfft, I realized that a long time ago, and I dont even try. People just DONT grow up very fast anymore. I look at society now, and compare it to what my dad is talking about. He says I shouldve become a MATURE adult by the time I hit 18. Now? that sort of thing is absolutely unheard of.
Haha yeah. When I was 18, I joined the Army and moved out of the house. My two little brothers, 21 and 20, still live at home, don't have jobs and play video games all day.

I myself realize I do that alot, playing video games, and am leaning more to to idea of getting a better job and actually doing something with myself instead of playing games all day. Like getting back into Kung Fu, or taking up some kind of exercise program.

Bah, Bring back Honor Maturity and Discipline!

Actually whats bothering me now is that if I do want to get a mature relationship, Ill probably have to take some kind of lesser person whos gone and done all the bad habits teens do now. Bleh, I never did those and im proud of it.

"Where have all the cowboys gone?"

"They went back to mom & dad's to play WoW until they're 40."
Hey! Don't knock WoW! There are some of us who enjoy it.... casually.

And seriously, where have all the ladies gone?

"They went shopping for overpriced name brand crap made in third world countries with hilariously large logos."

Not me, lol. Sometimes, I'm grateful for my life of poverty. Materialistic is something I've never been.

I can still rope and ride

As a matter of fact, I am going out tomorrow to do just that.

Huzzah!!
