we definitely know how to pray petitional prayers. on the single's forum, we can definitely be found praying for the arrival of our true love and that we'll be in a good state to receive him/her. we know how to close our eyes and just tell the LORD what we want.

but let's try relational prayers, where it's not about getting something from God. it's about getting closer to Him and our relationship with Him.

there's a great prayer called the papa prayer that you could try

p - present yourself to God. the highs, the lows, wherever you're at.

a - attend to God. remember to whom you're speaking.

p - purge. yeah, we can confess all of our sins, but even further, confess where in our relationship with God we fall short.

a - approach God.

i also think about oprah, several years ago when she had her thankful segment, i think. she encouraged her audience to keep a journal of what they were thankful for. the last a, could be approach God with all of your petitions, but it could be approach Him with all that you're thankful for.

how about we try to have a nice balance of petitional prayers and relational prayers.

the LORD's prayer revisited.

our father understand who you're talking to. it's God, but He's also your Father. approach Him with that mentality

who art in heaven remember where He is although a caveat would be that with the Holy Spirit, He's right there with you as well.

hallowed be thy name praising His name, praising His characteristics and glory. you're celebrating Him.

thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven remembering who's will is in control. remember that He is all powerful.

give us this day our daily bread now you ask for what you need.

and forgive us of our trespasses here you remember to repent for sins and confess where you've fallen short on your relationship with Him, displaying His character to the world

as we forgive those who trespass against us forgive others who made your day horrible. just let it go. it doesn't make their actions right, but it frees you from habouring it in your heart.

and protect us from temptation petitioning for protection in the future.
