I was just reading a few posts about moving into ministry and those who wish to be pastors. Sure, there is training one can undertake, but I quite like the concept that it isn't something one trains for, it's something we grow into.
A good start is just getting involved in church ... support programmes, ministries, do the donkey work. Then move into something else. For me it's gone like this:
donkey work -> welcoming team -> music team -> counselling training -> pastoral care team -> ???
And growing and contributing more at each step of the way. Could it lead to pastoring in future? Who knows. It's up to God if he grows me into that place. I don't think it's for me to decide, "I want to be a pastor", and set out to make it happen like training for any other job...
Just a thought.
