  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I attend a dispensational church, however, I am not a dispensationalist. I do not, however, want to leave my current church because of accountability and respect and commitment. I agree 100% with Reformed/ Covenant theology, and it has taken me some years to come to this place of understanding.

I was saved through the ministry of a Mid Acts Dispensational church, and was all I knew until 2002, when I began to listen to a radio program online. I wanted to let everyone here know that I understand both camps accurately, and I will in my posts, present them as they present themselves. I will not use any straw men in my arguments.

I have a question however: I have discussed Ephesians 2 with many of my dispensational friends, and I have yet to find a commentary or article that discusses the approach one should take in talking about Ephesians chapter 2 with a dispensationalist. Does anyone have any ideas where I could look? Thanks.

SJC,

While I don't have a specific answer to your question, I am glad to hear you've come out of dispensationalism. I have too (not mid acts though)...

This article by David L. White briefly discusses Ephesians 2, and is a good article overall: http://www.solagratia.org/Articles/My_Shift_to_Covenant_Theology_and_Amillennialism.aspx

Blessings,

aL

I'm not sure of the commentaries, I just use Calvin's. Paul's reference to the Gentiles formerly not being "in" with Israel, and then becoming fellow-citizens; Jesus "made the two one" is a pretty hard thing to deal with from dispensational and even some (though not all) New Covenant theologians.

I would be very interested if anyone's found an analysis of this from the NT Wright camp. I would expect his methods of dealing with some of this would be very useful in discussions with Dispensationalists. Wright is good, just not someone to read uncritically or without some sympathetic counterweights, like Hay & McGrath.

The best approach to take with the Bible is the truthfuil one.
