Reformed or not

I listened to two sermons by Matthew McMahon today called Are You Reformed, Really. Basically he said if you do not accept all the tenants of classic, reformed, covenantal, presbyterianism, you could call yourself Reforming but not Reformed. That Reformed Baptists, since we (i consider myself one) do not accept padobaptism, cannot be called Reformed. I have heard this from other web sites.
I wouldn't call myself a Reforming Armenian like McMahon says.
What say you?

Personally, as one who came from a Reformed Baptist church which was very exclusive (paedobaptists could NOT take communion in our church) and as one who has known paedobaptists who have not considered Reformed Baptists Reformed . . .

When I was a Reformed Baptist, I fully considered myself Reformed, and I still do now as a Presbyterian. I think it depends on the person/group, but I've found that there are few enough Reformed people out there without alienating each other based on baptismal views. My parents are still Reformed Baptist but have been blessed to become members of a solid PCA church that has welcomed them with open arms. No one there thinks them any less Reformed for their baptismal views.

Having been among both Reformed Baptists and PCA I don't care to call myself Reformed anymore. I am a 5 point Doctrines of Grace Predestinarian Baptist. There are several things in both the London and Westminster Confessions that I strongly disagree with. The Law and progressive sanctification being the most important. I see a great deal of problems with "necessary consequence" as well. Most of the errors of "Reformed" thinking arises from it. I hold to a covenental view akin to John Gill and consider Dispensationalism as heresy.

In a strictly technical sense only "Presybys" are Reformed. But just as "Calvinist" has taken on an umbrella like extent so has "Reformed." The only only folks I can align myself with are the ones who are wretched, weak, worthless sinners saved by the free and sovereign grace of God in Christ Jesus alone.

Let me suggest:

Are Baptists Reformed? By Lawrence Justice

The complete article can be found on pbministries.org

I was educated in Reformed theology, but I still call myself Baptist.

Oxymoron?

Perhaps I"m just plain moron.

I dearly love as a brother in Christ twin1954, but unlike him, I have not given up all of my dispensational mindsets.

God Bless

Till all are one.
