Sometimes we end up looking in the wrong places for what is present in another place - and sometimes in the places we least expect it do we find out what it means to see what we're about.I am feeling better, having stepped away from the computer for a little while. I got out of the house with my mother in law and spent some time with her. She listened while I talked. I really needed that. And while we were out, I was able to help a woman (a non-native woman) in the store where my mother in law and I were in shopping. She had a sick child and it was obvious to me she needed help getting her groceries out of her shopping cart, so I helped her. It made me feel really good to help her. She didn't criticize me or judge me for being who I am. She didn't shun me or mistreat me for being who I am. I was just someone trying to help her because she was in need. And that experience has given me some well needed perspective on the situation that happened to me earlier today.
