recently started going to salvation army church

hey i am danielle about 3 weeks ago well i used to go to a church near me and played in the band there
but moved to go to my friends church icehouse salvation army citadel in hull
and started enjoying it so decided to stay there
i actually prefer the services better than a normal church would

Hi Danielle,

That sounds awesome. I've been an Aussie Salvo boy all my life since I was born and been playing in the band since I was 10 so about 14 years (yes I'm 24). The thing I've noticed about it that most people like is the family atmosphere that seems to be fairly unique to the Salvos its heaps of fun as well. Keep going!!!

i still go and have a review this friday had classes to become an adherent there looking for round about 29th may i go to songster and band practice every tuesday once adherent i can then play and sing on sundays

Sounds Great Danielle!
My wife and I have attended the Army for the last 5 or 6 years, it was a good choice for us. In fact I wish we had attended there when our boys where young, because of the great opportunities to be in the Songsters and the Band (and receive the superior music education, and to service with the Army in times of community problems.
Don't forget though that the Salvation Army, like any other church, is not your salvation. Our salvation is in Jesus Christ alone. It is easy to get wrapped in the works and forget that the Army is just place to worship and work for Jesus.
Keep going on for Jesus.

Sound advice Amisk. The Army is probabaly more prone to this problem than many churches.

I genuinely believe that the Salvation Army is the best church there is, and thats ok, but I am always first and foremost a Christian, and secondly a salvationist

Danielle, that flag in the corner of your postings makes me homesick for another time. I guess it shows my age, but I remember when it blew in the Canadian winds as our flag as well.

Our troops fought under what we referred to as the Union Jack. Do they call it the Union Jack in Britain as well?

I wish the Newf. and I could be there to see you in full colours.

By the way, the Newf. is my wife, she was born in Newfoundland. She went to bed one nite in 1949 a British Subject and woke up the next morning a Canadian citizen with out signing a paper. Good thing for me she did or I might never have met the girl of my life. We will have been married 51 years in August.

It's only the Union Jack when flown at sea

Ashore it's called the Union Flag

thanks andy i know you did but you had a job to do
wen i went up it started off where kingsley asked me in front of everyone to read the doctrines again then asked me other questions i cnt remember but then said do u still want to be an adherent and i said yeah and then he explained as my mum was there how important they are
then he asked me to sign my certificate at the mercy seat then bring it back up along with my badge then prayed with me then asked everyone to welcome me into icehouse salvation army at the end i got loads of congratualtions by everyone there and had photos of me on stage signing my certificate with one of the salvationists holding the flag behind me with kinglsey aswell
and i could feel god was with me i nearly got emotional then sharon at the end gave me some flowers as a congratulations it was the best day of my life

If your corps press sec is on the ball, you should have your picture in the Salvationist magazine in a few weeks time
