I have been writing poetry for about five years now; I have books full. This is the first one I am posting here so I hope you all enjoy. Plus it is recent; just wrote today. My themes very, but I am sure all can figure this one out.
The dew on the green grass, or the snowfall of a cold winter night,
Even when the leaves of old fade away, their color amazes people beyond delight.
These things may be simple, but they are all fairly the same,
For they are all natural wonders, known not by any other name.
Even the rays of the sun, or the aurora which one sun can make
Is still not enough admiration that you alone can take.
Men well dressed with rhyme and meter can only try,
But all of us will come up short; these are the reasons why:
Poets will create verse which is not true in form,
They center around your beauty, which to me is wrong, but to most is the norm.
Do not miss understand my noble stab; beauty is a main key,
But what takes part in the heart is not equal to what the mind has to see.
This man has commented on the beauty of your eyes,
But the man has only said "eyes," there is more that cries
Out from just your eyes, like the sight of a shooting star,
When I gaze into your eyes I see not only eyes, but the highlands afar.
It is important that you understand what I am trying to say,
Poetic stands like this will surely create a giant fray.
There are many more examples I can give that will enlighten,
But I will leave you with one more that will surely brighten.
Even the soft whisper from your avid lips would send my mind into a daze,
Even if venomous daggers were to spew forth in disgust, I would take in its toxic craze.
There is a lot of meaning behind this poem, if anybody wants me to clarify I would be more than happy to!
