Recent findings that sparked my interest when searching for music the past month or so

Anathema - atmospheric rock

Cheesy and uplifting rock, have the potential to be the best mainstream rock band ever. Band is about 20 years old, started off as a doom metal band, then progressed to a hard rock band, now they are more indie-atmospheric. Latest album is the bomb. Band is an obvious theistic band if that is your thing.

Orphaned Lane - Middle Eastern Prog Metal

Christians and Atheists have been hogging the metal spotlight forever. This band wants to prove that muslims have something to bring to the table too. And they bring it hard.

Atoma - Synth/Space Metal??

I dunno where this band came from....but man....this band is like taking a trip through space. Very atmospheric, love it.

Dir En Grey -
Alt Rock/MetalFriend kept pressing me to listen to this band and I always thought they were just a "scene" band...well....they are but they have a mysticism and weirdness that I like to hear in music (think Tool). Like their music seems deeper than what you are actually hearing. But this only applies to like 1/3 of their songs. They usually resort to brainless metalcore but when they wanna hit deep...they hit deep.

Plus the band has like the best vocalist in metal, dude is diverse as mike patton. Was VERY surprised and taken back when I heard this song for the first time. (Skip to 4:20 to hear possibly the best riff ever and this dude killing it on the vocals)
