  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Before the holidays we posted a lot about prayer and the reasons and purposes of it. Now that the holidays are over maybe we should continue with it, as there is so much God has to say about it.

God chose the method of prayer for our benefit and His Glory. According to James 1:5 it is a way God blesses us with wisdom.

James1:5: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

It is also a way God has chosen to reveal Himself and His will to us and to bestow knowledge upon us and to answer our never ending questions.

Luke 11:9,10: "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

It is also a way He gives us Peace

Philippians4:6,7: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Nice Work Gerry thanks!

It seems whenever God is trying to show me something, I have to ask Him to help me understand it. Or if it's something He wants me to do, and I'm not sure how to go about doing it, I have to ask Him guide me in it. And sometimes He has to reveal the answer to me two or three times before it finally sinks into my head lol!

Ah yes! Sounds like you are suffering from the old "I'm a human being syndrome". LOL Oh well, what a blessing to know that because of Jesus we have access to the Throne 24/7 and God has assured us that He is a rewarder of those who Diligently seek Him!
