  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Reaping and Sowing

READ: Luke 8:1-15

Luke 8:15 (KJV21) "But that on the good ground are they that, in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience."

Sir Robert Watson Watt, the inventor of the radar, was arrested himself for speeding. He had been caught in a radar trap. Shortly after this irony he wrote this poem:

Pity Sir Robert Watson Watt

Strange target of his radar plot,

And this, with others I could mention,

A victim of his own invention (Brent Blair).

This story proves that it is true that you reap what you sow! Jesus also had something about this issue when he told his disciples the parable of the sower in Luke 8:1-15. The seed is the Word of God (v. 11), and the soil is our hearts. The "honest and good heart" (8:15) receives the Word, retains the instructions provided in the Word, and produces fruit.

How about your heart? Are you prepared to receive the seed of God's Word? Are you ready for His roots to delve to the deepest depths of your soul? Or are there hindrances that keep it from growing and bearing fruit in your Christian walk? Jesus identified three kinds of thorns that spring up and choke out the seed: "The worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things" (Mark 4:19).

If you have turned a deaf ear to God's Word, perhaps you are too concerned about this world with its riches and distractions. If this is the case, you need to do some serious gardening in your life! Once you remove these worldly influences, you will begin to harvest more fruit in your walk with Jesus.

Faith Lesson: "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."--2 Corinthians 9:6

In Christ,
Darin Smith
