If you can read the King James Version and understand the Old English Font, you may love this story. However, the Old English Font won't display on this page. Here is a little piece:
Alone, I departed Mylbroke, oer the sea onto the land, being of France. In that day, a multitude hath gathered among Cathedrale Coutances. Much murmurings and sayings wert unto them. And I went upon the steps.
A man steppeth forward and said; Thou art most beaute, clad in red; likened to one upon a story I hath heard. Durst I asketh? Art thou Sibelle, the prophetess of Mylbroke?
I answered, I am.
He said with great voice; O Sibelle, servant to his holiness, the true prophetess upon us: Our land hast been torn asunder and annex cometh upon our temple. 'Tis enough we standeth to Protestants, lest they suffer our seed. Unto the Protestants, we have strength for such war. But then cometh another: Unto the Lamia, she is mightily powerful upon the Earth, and wringeth every church upon the land and no armies can stand to her. By her cause; The teachings of old are no more but we shouldest learn the end times cometh not with war, but peace only. She has turned against God and dost declare the writing of Revelations be false. Hast thou cometh beyond sea, that ye absolveth our holy land from the evils of the Lamia? And destroy the evil church under her?
I said to him, It is so.
He turned to the people; O blessed be this day; a day of re-membrance, that we all rejoiceth.
A woman rebuked him, saying; Shut thee up! Thou giveth no thought for us which standeth among you.
I said to the man, Whence cometh the Lamia, ruler of evil which devoureth holy children?
He answered; She cometh forth of Macedonia.
And the people murmured.
I said to him, Why confesseth thee: She is of Macedonia? Wilt thou die for her name sake?
He answered; I pledge my soul to the Lord, his Holiness. I will die for his name sake alone. Unto thee, will I extend my pledge; that I mightest die for thee Sibelle, Prophetess of Mylbroke, servant unto the Lord. Without question, I assureth thee; Lamia cometh of Macedonia.
The peoples murmurings grew and the woman said with loud voice; Thou treasonous one! Saith not unto Sibelle; whence is Lorde Marius. I canst only pray thy words keepeth among this people.
I said to her, Why chastiseth this man? Is thy servitude unto Lorde Marius, the Lamia?
She saith unto me, Nay; my servitude shall be to the Lord of Lords only. But to say whence is Lorde Marius or to saith the word Lamia is cause for death. This man wouldst have us killed. Must we perish by the word of his mouth?
Then said I, To all man shalt he sacrificeth himself to the Lord. It is better ye be stricken down by the sword for his name sake; than lay down armor of God for man.
And she said, O young one; thou art truly beautiful, clad in red and doeth speaketh with authority. Even so, I beareth no witness ye art the Prophetess of Mylbroke. For the true Sibelle is mightily wise and her eyes gloweth. Thine eyes gloweth not and thou art no wiser the more. Looketh upon thee; thou beareth the sword only with no armor. How wilt thou destroy the Lorde Marius, whom dost maketh the Earth shake and winds blow and waters rise? She is powerful upon the earth, and maketh man fall to his knees in servitude, lest he perish.
I said to the people, What wilt thou have me do?
I just love this story. It's so cute. It can be viewed at cjschneider.com.
