Studies show that reading books or magazines before bed is much better than reading them during the day or afternoon. Apparently reading right before you go to bed makes the brain store the information much better in your brain and it goes through a certain "filing" process while you are sleeping.

I sorta chuckled here at the irony of this one and (for myself) experientially I'd have to agree. However, even though I read the scriptures at other times of the day (or even throughout the day) and not nightime only I had posted here (in the past) how I typically dream. I had told the OP (at the time) I dream "in type" ( I actually have scripture verses rolling through my mind). I actually see typed words go through my mind all night (and I love it) but I will admit, even I sorta found that kind of odd but I always woke up (either in the middle of the night) or in the morning with a "wow" and felt refreshed somehow.

Oftentimes when something you might think is out of the norm, you put your feelers out to find someone else who might have had an experience similiar to yours in some way, I suppose thats natural to do (even as I have). I certainly have nothing to complain about, but had always found that rather strange, there is no such example I can find of it. However I would suppose you dream in what you see more of and for me (who lives very rurally) and cant get out much having been disabled and consigned to a bed for years at one time it could be very typical given my face is in the book more often then not. So even as we might process everyday life (or even strange things found in weird nightmares) through watching Freddy Kruger type stuff (or simply having too much pizza before we dozed off) I wouldnt see that any differently I suppose.

Its a much better experience then the Freddy Krugger deal and too much pizza before bedtime thing, for sure.

well apparently, if you go to bed right after reading the brain processes the information in a way similar to that of a filebox. Since the words are fresh when you go to bed the brain is able to sort them out and process them in the memory. Because though the conscious brain take rest in the time of sleeping, hence our unconscious brain still active even if we sleep. So if you read before sleep then the thing you read before sleep will be well recorded in your memory and your memory will be improved

Yep. I already do read it before Bed. Because I tend to have strange and vivid dreams, my priest suggested I read the Scriptures before bed to help squelch those strange dreams. It works well. :)

My brain can't hold any material right before I go to bed, it's better for me to read when I'm alert, otherwise I continue reading the same line over and over again and then fall asleep.
I know what you mean.
I listen to scripture while falling asleep and during
the night, Figure that since my spirit never sleeps...
Might as well feed it every chance I get.
I sleep well but rarely remember any dreams :(

Same here, cant do the reading thing at night...(wont get the quality of what Im reading... but I'll get the quantity(can do quite a few chapters... but it'll just be words... a reading for reading sake)... the morning reading works for me...
But I find that praying at night ... now that leaves me refreshed... and it keeps Freddy Kruger away too:p

In Moses' Tabernacle, the Priests were to order the lamps morning and evening. This has direct bearing on Bible reading, IMHO. So, HE knew this all along ;)
