  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right forum to post this in, but I hope maybe some one can answer this question for me.
I until fairly recently attended a church that was affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church (CRC). There where definitely some theological things that I didn't see eye to eye on with the denomination, (that wasn't the reason, or atleast not the main reason, why I stopped going to that particular church though)but it's not that I have anything against the CRC the town I live in is mostly CRC, and I have great respect for the denomination and many local leaders, but I don't feel like that's necissarily where we belong at this time. For the record, I didn't know that this was a CRC until I has already been going there for sometime (I thought it was non-denominational, since it was a fairly laid back home missions church plant) and I wasMy husband and I are looking for a church we'd like to go to regularly, and I came across one that looks like it might be a good fit. I talked to the minister right off the bat asking if they where affiliated with a denomination, and he told me that they recently became affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. I know very little about the RCA other than that their church members are apparently allowed to le lodge members (atleast according to my former minister). would anyone be willing to explain to me the difference between the CRC and the RCA, or tell me a little about the RCA, I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you so much, and God bless you :)

Whew, that's a pretty tall order. The CRC is a denomination that is moving out of a conservative past. I believe the RCA is more liberal than the CRC is, but I haven't had any contact with people in the RCA (which tends to confirm to me that they don't move in conservative circles).

The website also has some of the earmarks of being "in between" on certain issues, too. So I guess I'd expect a fairly social form of worship, combined with an interest in helping and working to benefit mankind. Nothing particularly wrong with the positives -- just not the Gospel I've learned.
