Since predestination has been a heated topic lately on these forums, I thought I would link to a very enjoyable and educational (but easy to understand) teaching series by RC Sproul. You can view it online for free. He not only explains the augustinian view of salvation but points out misconceptions for it.

I look forward to hearing feedback from anyone who cares to take a look

Lecture 1, Everyone Believes this Doctrine from Chosen By God Teaching Series by Dr. R.C. Sproul from Ligonier Ministries

God bless,

Joe

I think it would be good for those who oppose the Calvinist view to read/watch. They will probably still disagree, but will come away with a better understanding of what we believe.

Sproul vigorously argues against a fictitious straw man that he mistakenly calls Arminian theology while defending his watered-down Reformed theology. There are many very competent Reformed theologians, but Sproul is not one of them. His teaching is very defensive and antagonistic in nature, perhaps because a rapidly increasing number of people are seeing Reformed theology for what it is and saying no to it. Nonetheless, I must give him credit for calling Reformed theology “Reformed theology” instead of the willfully deceptive term, “doctrines of grace.” Arminian Christians believe what the Bible teaches about the grace of God, but Arminian Christians also believe in man’s responsibility to believe, with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, the gospel, and not just to believe it intellectually, but at all times in the living of their lives. Indeed, the New Testament concept of God’s grace is that it is the dynamic of God by which He saves us from sin and its consequences through our faith in Christ, and empowers and equips us to serve Him.

Christians who want to know what the Bible really teaches will learn what it really teaches if they will put aside the interpretation of it by Sproul and other men, and earnestly and diligently pray to God for Him to teach them His truths and to protect them from wrong interpretations as they daily read and study the Bible. Having done that over a period of several years and having become well grounded in the Scriptures, it is then helpful to read what God has taught other men and women representing a wide spectrum of Christian theology and denominational affiliations.

Curious, what is your interpretation of John 6:37, John 6:44, John 11:51-52, John 10:26, Acts 13:48, Eph 1:4-11, 2 Thess 2:13, Romans 9:10-24, John 12:37-40, Matthew 11:21, Matthew 13:11-16, Ph 1:29, Eph 2:8-9, 2 Peter 3:9. That's good enough for now.

I am open to correction if you can convince me that my understanding of these verses is wrong.
