I love rap. Not that stupid pop-rap with all the same lyrics. I like the original stuff. My favorites are:

Outkast
Jurassic 5
Mars ILL
Listener
The Roots
Talib Kweli
KJ-52
LA Symphony
John Reuben
Black Eyed Peas

rap/hip-hop is awesome....its right up there with any type of rock music.

Hieroglyphics, last emperor, del the funky homosapien, immortal technique, binary star, all natural, jeru the damaja, people under the stairs, gangstarr, list goes on and on and on...and it doesnt stop really

Even the rap and hip-hop you hear on the radio or club rocks! I'm a firm believer that all types of music have merit

Yeah, I was just going to say, the intelligent rap as well, yes, that I listen to. The bling-bling stuff not for the most part. Half the time, if I know the song, its because it has a danceable beat and my brain is focusing on that instead of the lyrics.

Some rap bands are really good. For example, Outkast is better than almost any other modern artist.

Has anyone heard of the Streets? It's a British guy, and after you get over the hilariousness (is that a word?) of hearing a British guy rap, you realize just how good he is. It's an interesting combination of garage-rock beats and rap, and it just sounds great. Check out "The Irony of it All" for some laughs--great stuff :D

When I was 15 - 18 rap was all I listened to. Then I realized there was much much better music out there. But there are some artists who are awesome, and who I still listen to occasionally. I think that Tupac, hands down, was the greatest rapper of all time. I like Biggie a lot, Nate Dogg, Mos Def, Method Man, Tribe called Quest, De La Soul, Coolio, Def Squad, DMX, Jurassic 5, Dr. Dre, Onyx, and Wyclef (he is more than rap though, he is just an awesome musician in general). I think Jay-Z is terrible, Eminem is annoying (although very talented), and 50 cent is going to be a flash in the pan.
