I mostly like underground rap music. most of the mainstream secular stuff is total ****. I am a huge fan of underground rap though. My faves are: Mars ILL, Outkast, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Brother Ali, Jurassic 5, John Reuben, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere,... those are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head.

Haven't heard the other two (heard good things about Dizzee Rascal though) but the Streets are great. Original Pirate Material is a great album.
Roots Manuva has done two brilliant albums: Brand New, Second Hand and Run Come Save Me. You can download a Dizzee Rascal track at eptionic.com.

Have you heard Kanye West freestyle? He has mad skillz, and he doesn't rap about guns, violence, he raps about his life. I mean he says something in his Jesus Walks song "To the hustlers, killers, murders, drug dealers, even the strippers, Jesus walks with them.". DMX is also good, (I think he's a priest now) so is Mase, The Roots, Eminem, Shyne is good (I liked that he dissed 50 cent :D )

I used to listen to a LOT of secular underground Hip Hop.

Some of the most notable ones were:

Hieroglyphics
Binary Star
Mos Def
Talib Kwelli
Foreign Legion
Styles of Beyond
qwel
Murs
Supernatural
Mac Lethal
Latyrx
Unknown Prophets
Labtekwon
Cannibal Ox
Exile & Lokey
Animal Pharm
Aceyalone
Mystik Journeymen
Busdriver
C-Rayz Walz
Common
Himalayan Project
Maniak Sypha Crew (I actually collaborated with their front man on three ocassions)

and of course, being in Hip Hop for 5 years as an emcee myself, I've always been influenced by pioneers such as:

Krs-One
Run-DMC
Rakim
Big Daddy Kane
Afrika Bambataa
Kool Keith

Now, I only listen to Gospel Hip Hop such as:

Sev Statik
LA Symphony
KJ-52
Ceebrolistics
John Reuben
Tunnel Rats
Mars Ill
Illtrip
Future Shock
Mark J
