Tonight I was out in down town portland, having a good time at some of the bars and clubs. I met this homeless man while I was out, and he was asking for change. I gave him some and got to talking to him. He really is a beautiful person. Very smart, and he seemed to have a very good heart. We talked for over an hour. He was certainly not perfect, and for sure, had done many bad things, and probably would do some again. Still I could understand his situation. It is really sad.

On my way home I thought of him. I really hope that God can help this man find his way. Can help him reach his potential. This guy, he is too smart and nice to be out there alone. I pray that God shows him love, and mercy. I really think he needs to be shown love. He has too much to offer to go waist, so I pray he can be spared a jaded future of useing people.

Well anyone who wants to pray along is welcome to, and I thank you for your thoughts and prayers...

I am praying for this man and for all other homeless..they are no different than you or I, they have just had some things in life that did not go so well. I commend you for taking the time to spend with him and to offer up prayers of your own, that is by far the most important thing you can do for anybody...I am praying for and with you with love and blessings to you...

It is sad, but everybody have a story and something must have happen to this guy to be in such a position. I wish many times that I would be able to see the potential in people the way God do. You were haveing "a good time in the clubs and bars"? Want to have a REALLY GOOD time??? Help this man, yourself, instead of just praying and no more. Pray and then HELP! now THAT is fun! To say nothing og the schooling you will get in doing it!

Just an FYI for my friend Gerry. I did what I could to help this guy. I gave him change, and I told him he could stay at my place for the night if he liked. He did have other plans though. First his name was Mica (so I don't have to keep calling him "that guy". Second there was not much effective help I could have offered him. Most of his problems are not random circumstance, but his own personal issues, motivations, and faults that hold him back. I can't fix those for him. That is why I pray. I did talk to him for a long time, and it may have helped just to have someone to talk to. However, no amount of money, no stable home could have helped Mica. He simply needed to feel confident and motivated enough to help himself.

But anyhow, I'm impressed you guys are still responding to this thread. Thanks for your continued awareness here. I'm sure I will see Mica again, and I will let you know how he is doing.
