  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As many of you may know, tuition for seminary isn't cheap. I was wondering if it is appropriate to raise financial support for seminary (send out letters to churches and individuals). Since I am just representing myself, and not any missionary organization... the concept is a little bit strange to me.

Also, does anyone know where I can find scholarships or grants specifically for seminary?
Thanks.

Run a search for 'theological scholarships' and 'theological bursaries' and also at charitable trusts who make provision for theo' students.

Look at loans for students and work out a budget .

Churches (and religious orders) tend to only sponser their own candidates. Be prepared for a lot of polite 'no's.

A lot of churches will help pay for seminary. Try to find a place of ministry first...that might help. I paid my way through seminary by loans. Where I attended sem wasnt that expensive. My boyfriend has higher undergrad loans from the same school as I do for my seminary loans.

You may want to do a search on scholarships in general, as there are some scholarship databases that will match you to offers that are currently available based on info you give them. That can include church related scholarships and opportunities to receive monies for studies, including graduate studies.
