  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have recently discovered an anime/manga called RahXephon and it's awesome. at first when i was reading the manga i was all like "huh? What the heck is this?" but then it started to grow on me.

I haven't been able to watch any of the anime yet and i was wondering if it's the same as the manga and if it's worth seeing.

The anime is excellent. There is only one episode near the middle of the series that had some bad art (as far as I was concerned, they made the RahXephon look cheap in that episode). But other than that the animation, music, and story is great.

I loved this show, but I have never seen a manga version so I can't tell you how they compare.

Explanations only really start in the last third of the series or so. That's not to say that everything is explained outright, for some things you just have to put a few of the peices togther on your own, but there are places out there to explain things if you have trouble. 1+2+3+4=10 or something like that. :help:

Also, a 'movie' has been released that basically tells the same main story points in a different way. After watching the series three times in a few months, then watching that movie, I feel that I understand just about all of the mysteries of the show.

On the other hand, I think that if you were going to like it, you would know it after the first disk. So it may just be that RahXephon isn't for you. Who knows?

I just looked up and realized how much I wrote here. Long story short: I think you stopped just short of where the interesting explanations begin.

i have a friend who really likes animes like Rahxephon and evangelion. He just gets it while others are still trying to figure out the meanings.. so yeah, i believe there is such thing as "it just isn't for you"...

Is the OVA any good?

It's not bad. It's just sort of a bonus, as it doesn't really advance your understanding of the series much at all. The quality of the "episode" is good and the music is consistent with the series.

Basically it's good, but not needed.

That's because the series is complete as is. It doesn't need some movie to explain what happened.

The movie and the OVA are two different things. The movie sort of looks at the series in a different light so you can understand a little better why things happened the way they did.

The OVA on the other hand, is sort of an introverted dialogue that Quon has with herself. I think it came bundled with the RahXephon PS2 game in Japan.

That being said, I agree that the series doesn't need the movie to explain things, but it was still nice to watch.

RahXephon is basically an EVA rip off... but it's a pretty good one :D. Personally I liked the series. And I liked the main character a lot more than Shinji.
You just like suffering a lot? Eva rip off? LOL, if Eva was half as imaginative as Rah Xephon it would have been twice as interesting as it is. Not to mention the writing. The show literally made no sense.

Even so the EVA series was the popular original and the Rahxephon story line is very similar to that of EVA. Or as a whole Rahxephon kept giving me flashbacks of EVA a lot of the time. IMHO EVA was more original.

I thought EVA made sense for most of the series because you were expecting them to explain it all in the end... which they didn't, instead they totally messed it up. I guess that's why I liked Rahxephon, it actually had an ending :D. A pretty good one at that.

Well it seems the makers of RahXephon are even alluding to Eva on purpose in many instances. Watching RahXephon actually reminds me more of Nadia than Eva though.

I am probably the only one here but I think the ending of RahXephon is actaully more screwed up than the original Eva ending. It looks as if they have to wrap up everything in an episode while giving the Evaish feeling to the ending.
