  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is my pet peeve rant of the day.

Racism really bothers me.. it really really bothers me. and my parents drive me positively crazy...
I guess they're not completely racist, but it's enough. It's not so much that they're against talking or knowing people of a different race, but it is of inter-racial dating, and marriages, and procreation.
I suppose I can UNDERSTAND their point of view, but I don't agree with it. My Mom thinks inter-racial procreating will make it so there are no longer separate races. I can understand that, I think all of the differenct races are absolutely beautiful. :) And eventually there won't be separate races. But I don't tend to think it's 'wrong' or a 'sin' to have a significant other who is of a difference race than you.
They're kind of old, and a bit traditional and all, and we've lived in the same city all my life, and they both grew up here, and have only spent a small part of their lives any place else, and they've seen my city change from the nice city that it was many decades ago, and it's rather 'blamed' on low class people who don't care about what it looks like and the appearance of their homes and neighborhoods, and I guess they just kind of blame that on people of other races.....
It kind of bothers me, but I usually keep my mouth shut and pray for them. Debates in my family are not the easiest things, and I usually get so frustrated that I come up with a bad argument. I almost hope that God is calling me to someone of a difference race for a husband, just so I would have the opportunity and situation to be able to say my opinion and how I feel.

Another thing, it's like only different races, like African American or Asian Middle Eastern or something.. if the person is just white it's different... Like if you're going to act like that about people who look SLIGHTLY different or have a different skin color, then they are not people from other COUNTRIES included in that? Like Germans, and Russians and all those other people that originated from other countries.

Anyway, just my personal rant for the day. I don't mean for this to turn into a debate or anything. Just wanted to complain and it might be a nice discussion or a topic full of other rants.. or just a topic that floats to page two with no responses and quickly dies. ;)

Some of my friends tend to be like that, I'll tell em to knock it off and they'll reply with the "I'm only joking I don't mean it"...the thing is if they get so used to saying things they might find themselves blurting it out at the wrong place and wrong time. I think everyone has a bit of racism built in, I work with mostly blacks so I feel pretty comfortable now although before that I thought they were "hostile" towards whites. It's just a matter of getting to know people.

I wouldn't let that happen to ya!

I grew up in rural Ohio, so racism is something I grew up with, and still have trouble with. If someone does something nice to me, I have a bad habit of saying, 'That was awfully White of you!' I don't mean it as a racist remark, but it is no matter how I mean it. It's just one of those things that I grew up hearing and it was passed on down into my subconcious.

I plan on marrying who ever I end up loving, and if that be someone of an another race, I don't see any true harm in it. The kids will just have more cultural events too go to. :D

If you said that in my neighborhood, even if you said it to a white person, that would be a pretty insulting thing, not because it offends blacks, but because its not cool to act or be "white".
