The idea that it is racist just seems foolish, a knee-jerk response. Racism involves an attitude towards other people solely because of their ethnicity. An attitude towards an ethnic group that in the past treated your ethnic group like work animals is not about race, it's about things that happened in the past. If people aren't permitted to process that, how will it ever be resolved?

Where's.the study that says why blacks are most likely to be stopped?
Perhaps it's because they are most likely to violate the traffic laws. Did you know a study was done that showed blacks are 64% more likely to speed than whites? Did you know that blacks make up about 12% of the population yet commit 28% of the crime? And all the statistics are extremely skewed because they don't take into consideration where the police are located.

For example in our small City of Billings, most if the police are located in a certain part of town. That's because that's where most of the crime occurs. So they are going to deal more with minorities because that's were the minorities live, and vem though they are a smaller percentage of the population.

You don't have more police making contacts in white neighborhoods where little crime takes place. But you will make more contacts in the areas of crime and gang activity occurs. And those are the areas where minorities live.

And again, sentences are based upon criminal activity. People with more criminal history are going to get harsher penalties. As Ana already showed you, which I thought you understood, when you take into consideration history you find the sentencing is about the same.

The study, as I said in my first post, is focused on whether or not offenders are referred for drug rehab, that’s where the imbalance is. Whites with arrest/conviction histories have the same sentencing rates as compared to the whole black prison population (in California, where the study was based).

The other link is to a review of numerous studies, which break down the various related details across more of the US.

Yes, one of the studies mentions that.

As you can easily find out, there was a lot of collusion from local state officials.

That still doesn't make it a function of the state. As I pointed out already, white people were lynched too.

Sure, the past has nothing to do with the present, of course. If you can't see how superficial your analysis is, there's little that's worth saying about it.

Is the large scale murder of black people a problem or not?

Attitudes like the one expressed are indeed racist. If you don't like white people for injustices done by people in the past that has nothing to do with you then it's racist because it's all about the whites. Dies she express the same animosity towards Indians? They enslaved balcks too. Dies she express the same thing towards blacks in Africa? They enslaved people too and in fact sold blacks to whites.

If a women was raped by a black man, is she now entitled to be racist towards all blacks? Or more to the point if her great great grandma was raped by a black man, is she now entitled to be racist towards all blacks?

That's why racism is insideous. That why Martin Luther King said that we should judge people by the contact if their character not the color of their skin. White people being judged by the color of their skin is as bad as a black man being judges by the color of his.

Well explain yourself. You mentioned lynching....which is responsible for almost 3000 black lives in around 90 years.

What does that have to do with the present?

What do you think? Do you really think it’s simply irrelevant? Is all history somehow just stuff that happened, and so what?

What does it have to do with anything I said? This odd notion about concern as opposed to recounting historical events and their rather obvious affects is your idea, not mine. I’m not going to get into a silly argument of your creation, if you can somehow demonstrate that the world corresponds with your notions please give me some relevant examples.

It’s a bit facetious to try and make out the regular practice of lynching wasn’t largely targeted at blacks.

If this prison system is racist due to the disproportionate number of blacks in prison, HIV/AIDS must be even MORE racist than the prison system because they affect Blacks more than even whites. At least with the prison system you have to add blacks and Latinos together to out number whites, but not with the prison system
Why Do HIV and AIDS Affect African-Americans More?
Unless you want to consider..... perhaps behavior might have something to do with it??? Naaw; AIDS is racist.

I'm not talkin' about Drug-involved offenses, I'm talking strictly about people being put in Jail for simply using illegal drugs; and not put in a cell overnight to sleep it off like Opey from the "Andy Griffin show" but in for years. Any stats on that?

Yeah; it's rare in this country too!

Got anything from this century?

Lots.

Oh ok...what do you think has a larger historical impact? 3000 black people unjustly murdered by lynching over 90 years? Or 5000 black people murdered by other black people every year?

I was trying to get you to see that perhaps behavior might have something to do with it; not everything is the result of racism.

Well, yes. That hardly changes the point though.
