• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I heard this from someone.
That if you are saved, you are saved, if you aren't, you aren't.
It has to do with grace, and theres nothing you can do about it.

Are those statements true?
Lets assume those statements are true.
So that means that trying to be good is futile and pointless since I can try to be a good person and I can go to hell anyway because I am not saved.
No matter how hard I try?

Also, I heard that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
So Satan, demons or yourself can send yourself to hell because you get tricked or trick yourself into believing you are doing the right thing when you are actually going the wrong thing in the grand scheme of things.

I would like to add a bit, though I have not read the link that ke1985 left.

What saves you is your belief in Jesus as your Saviour. coming to the point where you realize you are a sinner and cannot stand before a Holy God. That no matter how hard you try there is sin in your life. “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; Isaiah 64:6 You HAVE to accept the gift of grace. (see Eph 2:8 below)

What dooms you to Hell is rejecting Jesus as your Saviour, rejecting the gift of grace. Hell WAS MADE FOR THE FALLEN ANGELS, THE DEMONS, NOT TRULY FOR MAN. I can get you verses, but do I just do not have the time this am. MAN CHOOSES TO GO TO HELL BY REJECTING CHRIST. The Bible is clear that all heaven and nature is a witness to God and man is without excuse (again there are verses to this regard).

So if you are talking about a man who is unsaved doing good then yep, doesn't work the law has never saved anyone (verses available again).

I personally believe once saved always saved, others do not, so I will leave that alone.

But I will say that once saved, we do good and merciful acts as a way of saying thank you to God as a witness to the fact that we are changed by God's love and mewrcy in our lives. The nice thing is that when we His grace is new every morning so that when we in our humaness fail, there is grace to cover it always! For if we confees our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us. (That is a verse I just don't have the passage, I thnink in 1 John) And we can use these mistakes as opportuniies to share His grace for the unsaved as well.

Tis important for the saved not to get confused as we start doing good works as a thank you to God. That is why we have verses like The on above Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Well, that didn't come out stated as clearly as I hoped, but I hope that helped to answer your question.

The only unforgivable sin is rejecting Jesus. When you accept Jesus' gift (which is freely given by Him with no strings attached) of salvation then his Holy Spirit fills you. When you are filled with Him then you will become like Him which is good. The more you get to really know Jesus the more you will want to be like Him. Good works alone won't get you into heaven but hopefully the road there will be paved with them.
