  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is an issue for them because they claim Jesus was only sent to the lost sheep of Israel. So as they claimed, we are not in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and that we are to follow Paul. They say we will not find our doctrine today in the gospel, but only through the Pauline epistles. Jesus was sent to the circumcision to fulfilled the promises God made to the fathers. Do we have a covenant with God? No. Paul says we are strangers in Ephesians. Make sense?

"Dispensationalists" are not the ones that came up with the idea that Jesus was only sent to the lost sheep of Israel. In Matthew 15:24, Jesus himself said exactly that, and He explicitly said it in plain words.

1. So we are not in Matt, Mark, Luke and John huh. So we should disregard grapes and bread?

2. The Samaritan woman was saved and she was non Jew.

3. Peter went into Cornelius house and was saved. He was a gentile.

Would like to hear your thoughts how you guys go about dealing with those issues.

Thanks.

To understand the salvation of the Samaritan woman, and Cornelius' house, you have to go back in time a ways.

In Genesis 12:3 God told Abram that I will bless them that bless thee.

In Matthew 10:5 Jesus told His disciples "... Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of Samaritians enter ye not."

Jesus was sitting at the well when the Samaritan women came to Him. He did not go to her. She was a blessing to Israel when she recognized He was a prophet.

Cornelius also was a blessing to Israel. He was a Gentile, centurion, a devout man, one that feared God, gave much alms to to the to the people, and prayed to God always (cf. Acts 10:1, 2). Looks to me that he was a proselyte to the Jews religion.

God always blessed those who sought after Him, and that is why Peter was sent to him. Peter did not go to him in his mission to carry out the "so called" great commission.
