Questions about the Holy Spirit

I cannot speak for everybody, but when I am visited by Spirit here is what happens:

I get an urge to pray. So strong an urge that I cannot ignore it. So I go deep into the quiet place within me. The world around me become silent. Once it happened when I was in the shower and, in that quiet, I couldn't even hear the water. Often I will spend a long time just being open. Other times, I will be filled right away. When this happens it is hard to describe the sensation. I am so filled with light...I start to cry. Sometimes I bawl my eyes out. During this time I will pray for everyone I know and for those I don't. I will pray for my family, my friends, my "enemies". I will pray for the healing of the Earth. I take the light inside of me and send it outwards. And I will pray for my own blessings.

When the Holy Spirit visits do you experience any physical or emotional feelings/sensations? Is it different for every person?
When I was ANOINTED with the HOLY SPIRIT I didn't know anything about it. I did without a doubt know IT came from GOD. At this time I was given my MISSION. I wasn't qualified to carry this MISSION out but the HOLY SPIRIT showed me by example that HE would give me everything I needed even what I had not the ability to have. It was 7 years before this came into being. IT was fulfilled!!!

The next time the HOLY SPIRIT came upon me I was sitting in front of the fireplace at about 2am in the morning when I was reading GOD'S WORD. All of a sudden the wind really started blowing hard. I had that same feeling come over me and I got up and looked outside. It was completely still outside.

There is a great deal more to tell about when the HOLY SPIRIT first came upon me but maybe this is what you wanted to know.

I was a Catholic at the time and we NEVER talked about being ANOINTED with the HOLY SPIRIT so I didn't know what name to call IT. But there was no mistake it came from GOD. After telling another what happened was when I was told what IT'S called.

You need not worry that IT will come and go without you knowing it. GOD doesn't send IT in your sleep. HE will make it known to you that you have received HIS SPECIAL BLESSING. ( GIFT )

I have heard other describe IT differently but the same HOLY SPIRIT. GOD decides.

The OP asks: "When the Holy Spirit visits do you experience any physical or emotional feelings/sensations?"

Yes.
If not, how would you know that Holy Spirit was visiting?
Truly, you should feel something.
If you feel nothing at all, it may just be that you are not in touch with your Spiritual body/mind.

Although, in another sense, the Holy Spirit is with us all the time.
So, naturally, you can't just feel that feeling 24 hours a day.

Each person has his own way of perceiving his body and mind.
And, each person is either closer (or further) from the Holy Spirit.
So, if you feel nothing in particular, then that is fine.

Some day, when the Holy Spirit gets REAL close to you, I imagine you will feel His presence.
If not, then you can live a good-enough Life without feeling it.

When the Holy Spirit comes on me during praise and worship my hands raise up and I can't put them down in adoration. I feel a warm, tingling feeling through my forearms as if a large hand is placed on each forearm holding them up. My arms don't get tired.

The warmth goes through my body, and I praise HIM with gusto and awe.

Only once, I had wind circle me in my bedroom, and there was no wind outside, and when it left our house, another Christian who live a few houses down the road, said he saw the spiritual wind leaving our house with a roar.

Yes and yes...

The intensity of Holy Spirit when He comes upon you will be in direct proportion to their faith. The more you believe (not the pretend or superficial kind of belief but rather full-out, commitment based loving belief) the better the contact... and getting good contact with the power of God will certainly shake things up in your life (and in those around you too).

Hope this helps. Bless you indeed in your search for God.

His,
Rev J

I believe it is different for everyone...but I also believe that the Holy Spirit is ALWAYS present in those who have accepted the Lord into their hearts.

That doesn't mean we can always feel it. Sometimes I can't feel it at all. I'm down in the dumps, full of anxiety, down and depressed. Usually when I am feeling angry or ungrateful for some reason. I know now that is at these times I am kind of shutting God out.

Other times I feel it very intensely, and Something will remind me of God's love, grace, and blessings. And I will feel so overwhelmed with joy that tears stream down my face.

It's like the sun. Sometimes it's a very warm, sunny day and the sun is very obvious. It's so bright and warm it can overwhelm us. Other days it's dark and stormy. But the sun is still there, it's just behind the clouds, which will eventually pass.

Each person has a different experience. One person said that when this happened all of a sudden they found themselves a Jesus feet and never experienced the most purest being in their life. Then they started crying uncontrollable and because of Gods holiness they couldn't help buy stay as His feet.

I got a calm quiet experience and then I felt clean and had intense joy. I laughed and couldn't stop.

For me, when I'm in praise and worship is when I feel the Holy Spirit. Usually it's a feeling of warmth throughout my body, sometimes mostly just my arms, other times all over. Also sometimes a tingly feeling all over as well. I know others have said they've felt this as well. But, also for me sometimes I feel a warmth on my back as if someone had placed their hand on my back. Other times I just sort of feel His presence, can't really discribe it other then that...kind of like someone's standing behind me and I feel a calmness and peace.
But, it is different for everyone and not everyone feels the presence of the Holy Spirit in the same way. I've heard people say that they have had such joy that they just started laughing uncontrollably or that they just started crying and couldn't stop for a while.

The Holy Spirit of God, when we become believers, does not just visit us. God's Spirit becomes a part of us- we are no longer two but one.

So it is not a feeling or emotion. It is a covenant between me and God.

What I did notice, was I no longer desired to be the person I once was. I desired to be a child of God. To live a just and righteous life.

Another thing that occured upon the entrance of God's Spirit in my life, was teaching (or being discipled just as the twelve were). In the gospel of John, it says the Spirit will not be speaking on his own behalf, but on behalf of God. So the Spirit is our connection with God, so we know his will in our lives.

For example, I was in the mall one day, and I saw this ladies gold bracelet fall off her arm. Now back in the day I would have thought- Oh boy this is my lucky day! But instead I walked over, picked up the bracelet, and took it back to its owner.

Jesus had taught me what was right vs what was wrong. And I acted upon this truth. (One of the Spirit's job is to reveal these truths to us).

So instead of an emotion or feeling, we will have Jesus with us always, thru his Spirit revealing the truth to us. (How you know God's Spirit is upon you is that you will change, you will become a person who hungers and thirsts after righteousness- and as promised for those, you will be filled).

God Bless

Please give these passages some real thought:

" 1 John
Chapter 2

26 I write you these things about those who would deceive you.

27 As for you, the anointing that you received from him remains in you, so that you do not need anyone to teach you. But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false; just as it taught you, remain in him. "

At what point in your life do you no longer need a teacher?

What happens when you are anointed?

What is GOD'S very special gift the HOLY SPIRIT to you?

What is the purpose of the HOLY SPIRIT?

Do you really think you will receive GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT before GOD knows HE has your whole heart, mind, strength, and soul?

Do you think that there would come a time that you NEED NO NEW TEACHER and you not be made aware of it by GOD?

There was a reason GOD'S WORD has these passages. They didn't have meaning to me until GOD ANOINTED me with the HOLY SPIRIT. There was NO doubt as to EXACTLY when that happened.

AFTER THIS HAPPENS YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then " ACTING " upon that which you have accepted. X Even though you can't see him, GOD is there!!! O ( click on the x and drag to the O ) ( then see who is with you ) steven

I feel the holy spirit in me. It's like a great joy in my heart.

DH has even seen a fog when the holy spirit has been in the room.

I think it's different for every person and every situation. God knows you, and knows how to reach you.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is always with us and lives in us if we are in Christ....even if we don't feel His presence. But there are times when we do, and I'm so thankful for those times; it's amazing! :D I don't know about other people, I think maybe it's different for everyone....but for me, I just feel very loved and I feel like Jesus is right beside me...I feel joy, love, peace, humility, and a lot of faith, and just a longing to be near Him. Usually I start to pray or worship and I just want to praise God. Also, sometimes He communicates to me during this about my life or things I have prayed about. Often I just start crying because the love I'm feeling is so intense. Seriously I can't really describe how it feels like to be in His presence, but nothing else compares. After these worship experiences I just want to follow Him all the more and live for His glory.

My first experience feeling the Spirit was at a small church in my hometown when I was a teenager. All the folks were joyfully singing and praising the Lord. It's hard to describe, but it was like a very light cool breeze circling in the church. I had chills! When I pray that same feeling comes over me, and I almost always have tears of joy.

I saw a story on CBN about a lady who had a terminal illness. Her description of what she felt when she was healed is similar to what I experience. I can't remember her name, but I think she is the wife of the founder of Shelter Rock Ministries.

The Holy Spirit of God, when we become believers, does not just visit us. God's Spirit becomes a part of us- we are no longer two but one.

This is true... When I received The Holy Spirit I somehow breathed it in or I felt that the Spirit went into me trough my norstrils and mouth and filled my chest. Oh God... it just always brings me to tears to remember this.

Now I feel that when Holy Spirit starts to work He kind of vapors and feels like a gentle breeze around me, but I don't want to rationalize it too much. I just know that He lives in me and I want to be a good temple. :)

 cool!
sometimes I feel the Holy Spirit inside me; it's like a living presence in me that I never felt before I was a Christian...I can't really describe it! But it feels amazing.

Yes isn't it amazing that God didn't choose a temple to dwell in, but us? I mean...who are we! But He made us into 'temples'. I think it's easier to avoid sin and temptation if we remember this...

This is kinda scary, but before I was a Christian I actually considered being Wiccan. I'm so glad I didn't though! But the reason I wanted to is because I thought it would give me special powers or something :sigh: well I think that's all fake, and if the 'powers' are real they are from demons...but in any case, the Holy Spirit is so much greater! He empowers us to greater things. And while in Wicca, etc, it's all about self, we realize that this is not about us and that we're living for His glory alone. It's not like we receive 'special powers', it's more like we realize that we are weak but that He is strong in us.

I love the Holy Spirit :D

I can relate to this. It's very exhausting when your flesh fights against God... but He has won every battle till this day.
