  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
(Matt 6:9)

Can we talk about this part of the Lords Prayer? Just the first sentence. I would like to suggest two principles concerning prayer. First, it is based on relationship. (Our Father ...) Second, is spoken with respect. (Hallowed ...)

Can anyone share other verses in scripture which bring out these two points? I'm doing a study on it see. :crossrc: 'Want to hear what others think.

As ContentInHim suggests, look up the original Greek word meaning on BlueLetterBible.org (Strong's concordance actually).

Here's the verse in the original text:
http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/c.pl?book=Mat&chapter=6&verse=9&version=KJV#9

Here's the definition of hagiazo (Strong's Greek #37) the word translated as "hallowed":
http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/words.pl?book=Mat&chapter=6&verse=9&strongs=37&page=

And if you're still interested in looking it up in the different English translations, try the BibleGateway.com.
It only displays 5 versions at a time, but you can select whichever one you want to see:
