Questions about denominations

You know how protestants believe in a different view of the book of revelation than Catholics. And even some protestants believe Catholics will be with the unbelievers in some of the events of revelation. What do Catholics believe about will happen to protestants? My new priest at Mass has a newer prayer to say when he blesses the eucharist saying a blessing to mainly only the Catholic and apostolic church. But what blessings do the protestants receive? And I often think what is Jesus meaning when he says let your will be done on earth as heaven. At the moment earth is a bit divided but surely heaven isnt anymore? (Like how it says demonic was cast from heaven and is sent to earth for they know their time is short).
And mainly where can I find a complete Catholic view on Revelation? What does it mean when a third of the earth will be burnt up. And will heaven and earth always be seperate? I know the jews loved talking about the new Jerusalem and making Israel into some sort of heaven on earth.

Catholics really do not consider themselves a denomination. Denominations did not come about until after people broke with the Catholic Church.

Do you want to be left behind? For those of you familiar with Tim LaHaye’s Left Behind series, you’re probably thinking, “Heck no! I don’t won’t to be left behind.”

Well, I’m here to tell you, “You do want to be left behind.”

The question is prompted by Jesus’ teaching about his coming at the end of time, which he compares to the days of Noah:

As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man . . . they did not know until the Flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man . . . Two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left” (Matt. 24:37-41).


Some Christians think Jesus is saying that at the end of time, before the final tribulation, he’s going to secretly snatch believers up to himself (“one is taken”)—hence the term “rapture”—and leave behind (“one is left”) the wicked to experience the final push of evil wrought by the Antichrist, after which he will come and establish the new heaven and new earth.

This “pre-tribulation” rapture doctrine originated and was developed in the early to mid-1800s by John Nelson Darby, an early leader of a Fundamentalist movement that became known as Dispensationalism. This view has influenced the thinking of not only many Fundamentalist Christians, but also Catholics. Even Catholics don’t want to be left behind.

Franciscan Father Stephen Doyle provides a Catholic commentary on the Book of Revelation and explains that today’s people do not understand what the author of Revelation is talking about. The Book of Revelation was written for people who were living during the time of the author. Other apocalyptic books, like the Book of Revelation, are in the Old Testament: Daniel, parts of Ezekiel, Judith, and others. It is this type of writing, as Fr. Doyle shows, that is full of symbolism and uses codes words or names to hide the real message from the persecutors of those who would understand what the author is writing about. This type of writing was meant to encourage those enduring persecution. If the persecutors came across this subversive writing they would not know what it was saying or would think it was something from the past. This was a protection method for those who understood the writing’s symbolism and codes.
