How tall was this tree if the roots are 4 miles...

***New Discovery Will Change History***

A huge and startling discovery has been made at the Devils Tower in Wyoming. Scientists from the Wyoming State Parks Department were conducting photographic seismic readings below the tower, when they discovered an incredibly large petrified root system below the tower. The parks department released a statement saying, "We have discovered, what looks like a giant root system stemming from the base of The Devils Tower. The root system has been measured at 4 miles deep by 7 miles wide. We are currently conducting studies and tests to confirm that this is actually a root system and not a coincidence." This discovery is on the edge of rewriting history and science as we know it.

Drive to Denver. There are trees there.
I was just in Albuquerque. About the same altitude as Denver. The trees are really stunted. Over 10,000 feet they do not exist at all. The air is just too thin to be of use to large scale plant life.

Albuquerque is semi arid. You referred to the altitude. Denver is not semi arid and the trees grow just fine at the same altitude or even a bit higher than Albuquerque. The Devil's Tower is not as tall as either.

If the roots of the tree are any indication of the height of the tree, then the tree is 4 miles high. 21,120 feet = 4 miles. Mount Everest is 29,035 ft with a difference of 7,915 ft.

That is over a mile and 1/2 short of Mount Everest.
So I say it has not reached thin air level.

Are there any trees in that last mile and a half? 2 miles? No.

At that altitude there is NOTHING growing.
