• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i have a problem and was wondering if anyone else has gone through this. This morning i was jogging, and thought to myself that i will check my email, cause a dear friend of mine was going to email me. It kinda made me excited to think that im gonna get a email from them and couldnt wait until i read it. Then i started to think "do i get more excited about reading someting from a friend than something from God, like bible reading" , and i tried to shrug it off and i know its ok to enjoy stuff and i can enjoy stuff in a way that would glorify God, but this really bothered me. And I started to think "well, if i was trully a christian, then i would enjoy God more than anything else" and i would like to think that I do, but this has really got to me. Has anyone been through this? Should I just shrug it off and move on?

God wants us to enjoy life. He says it himself in the book of ecclesiastics, that there is nothing better under the sun for us to do than to eat and drink and be mery. So there is absolutly noting wrong about getting excited for something in this world(as long as it's not sinful things).Of course we put priority to spiritual matters like studying the bible and praying and fellowshipping with believers, but that does not mean we should not enjoy our life. It's the "condemnation" mentality that is telling you not to enjoy those things. Your enjoyment of God is totaly in a different catagory(spiritual), so don't let condemnation dictate and ruin your life. Most OCD sufferers(like myself) have condemnation mentality, which is fear based, but God's reaction towards these things is love and peace and enjoying of the life He has given us, with understanding that we put seeking His kingdom first in our lives. God bless you brother.

Also, yes, by God's grace He gave us life, breathed us into motion, He knit us together in our mother's womb. He knows every thought you think it before you think it and the very hairs on your head are numbered. He loves us and loves us SO MUCH that He died so we could enjoy a relationship with Him. But He also gave us life, and He wants us to glorify Him as our Creator by enjoying it. Just remember also that He hates sin, and as you grow in your relationship with Him you will hate it more too. The more you love God, the more you will hate sin. Enjoy your life. Just bring glory to God in all you do. Give Him the reverence, obedience, and love He deserves for having created you.
