If Adam and Eve were the first two humans God created, what nationality were they?
If you think about it, the creation story of Genesis is very simplistic and seems like a children's tale.
Honestly.
Here are some questions I've had...
How do we have all the cultures, nationalities, skin colours (etc) we have today if Adam and Eve were the first people? Did we evolve over time?
Wouldn't it make more sense if God created many people, many different nationalities, diverse cultures?
Also, if God created the universe in 7 days, why did it take Him so much longer to write the 10 Commandments? Wasn't it 40 days all up? Doesn't this sound stupid?
I could keep going, but I'll leave it at this for now.
I know that Christians have to believe the Bible is the infallible word of God, but have an open mind for just a minute and consider the inconsistancies and contradictions. Is it really infallible? God's word? Do we believe it is holy just because this is what we have been taught? What is God saying?

What are your thoughts?

Another thing.
Why is the Bible about the Jews? We're not even Jews.
And why do we call the Jews in the Old Testament God's Chosen People when they are the ones who killed Jesus Christ?
Also, I thought "God is not partial". So why, may I ask, does he apparently have a "Chosen people"?

I've always held the opinion that the division, if you will, of races/nationalities happened at the tower of babel (Genesis 11). I'm no expert, but I've always assumed that after being "scattered them over the face of the whole earth" in whatever way, they adapted over time. They would have had to adapt to their enviorment, thus "evolving" a culture.

I'm not exactly sure how we get skin color, but I'm assuming if a group of white people were to move to somewhere in Africa and have descendents for a couple hundred, maybe thousand, years, over time their skin would begin to darken... I think it's a natural process to darken skin and such, not sure on that one though.

Also, if God created the universe in 7 days, why did it take Him so much longer to write the 10 Commandments? Wasn't it 40 days all up? Doesn't this sound stupid?

It never says it took God 40 days to write the ten commandments down (if it does, please correct me). It says Moses was up there forty days and forty nights.

I would think it is the same reason Jesus could have chosen to fast for forty days. Given the opportunity (you're sustained financially, physically, ect...), would you not opt to spend 40 days (or more?) with God? Forty also has some symbolic significance in the Bible. It is one of the numbers (along with 7 and 3) that is used various times.

I could keep going, but I'll leave it at this for now.

Yes.

Do we believe it is holy just because this is what we have been taught?

If you, or anyone is only believing because they've been taught (and this applies for all subjects) without thinking for themselves at all, that is not a valid reason to believe. Analytically and critically thinking about things is not wrong, nor is asking questions to others.

What is God saying?

About what?

What are your thoughts?

Hehe, said them.

Another thing. Why is the Bible about the Jews? We're not even Jews.

The Bible is about the Jews because they are the descendents of Abram, the man God chose to set up his kingdom with.

And why do we call the Jews in the Old Testament God's Chosen People when they are the ones who killed Jesus Christ?

Please remember the fact that the first Christians (including Jesus himself) were Jews.

That is like saying all muslims are to blame for terrorism, when in fact, it is only the elitists or extremists.

It is dangerous (ie, borderline racism) to blame the "Jews" for killing Jesus. In reality, many people like Jesus who were proposing a revolution that went against either Judiasm or the Roman Empire were crusified just like Jesus. The differences between true criminals and Jesus? The way the "revolution" was held out and the ressurection.

Also, I thought "God is not partial". So why, may I ask, does he apparently have a "Chosen people"?

He isn't partial. There is no indicated reason that he chose Abram over anyone else of the time to start the Lineage of Israel. There were allowances for people who saw the Jews as living right to become Jews religiously (obvoiusly they could not change their born-into nationality however).

Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure I messed up somewhere in there.

It doesn't hurt to ask a question
As sometimes I need to know stuff like these myself
But Livewired, you gave amazing answers over it.

Ah, yes, left that out. Questions are one of the best ways to learn, please don't feel guilty about asking.

Jude 1:22-23

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

We're supposed to help each other with this kind of stuff.

Also thanks, JPPT, for the encouragement.
