Yes, I think so. If you are dressing immodestly it can be tempting other people to sin, which is wrong. Is that what you mean??

Yours in Christ
~Ali :)
I agree.
If God cares about a sparrow that falls & has the hairs on your head counted, you can be assured that He cares how you dress; and even more importantly, WHY you're dressing how you do.

I think deep down, we know what we're doing when we buy our clothes & why we're wearing them.
I think we should try to look attractive & trendy - just be a little more modest than the world is.

Decent guys appreciate that too - you get what you attract (I learned that the hard way). :swoon:

God does care how we dress, because it is not only a reflection upon ourselves, but as Christians, it is a reflection upon Him. We are His ambassadors to the world, and should portray ourselves with the diginity and honor that comes with that office.
:thumbsup: great post

No...I don't think God cares how we dress as long as we try to be clean. Think of the homeless people who have very little to wear...does God love them less because they are poor? Jesus ministered to the poor, the lepers, the sick & infirm & the sinners. I don't remember any verses where Jesus turned someone away because their robes were shabby.

Ok, How about the verses from Paul about how not to dress (all the fancy stuff & major jewelry) -
& God didn't want the Israelites getting tattoos, piercing their bodies or shaving their beards like the pagans did to look like them.

So... maybe there's some truth somewhere in that for us?
I think the God judges the heart as to why we wear what we do.

God doesn't tell us directly what to wear or not to wear, so you have to use some discretion.

My advice: avoid showing any of the four B's: boobs, butt, belly button, or back. And if your jeans are cut so low that I can see your underpants - that's a little extreme, too.

And on the other hand, avoid dressing in such a way that you're advertising how much you like to spend on your clothes.

Remember, be attractive, but not an attraction.

2Co 10:7 You judge by appearances. If any of you think you are the only ones who belong to Christ, then think again. We belong to Christ as much as you do.

Luk 7:24 After John's messengers had gone, Jesus began speaking to the crowds about John: What kind of person did you go out to the desert to see? Was he like tall grass blown about by the wind?
Luk 7:25 What kind of man did you really go out to see? Was he someone dressed in fine clothes? People who wear expensive clothes and live in luxury are in the king's palace.

The answer to this question is at the heart of much of what we should or should not do as Christians (note that I do not say cannot). 'All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful.' You will find me quoting this a lot if you read many of my posts :p. A perfect example of this principle is drinking alcohol. Paul's teachings make it very clear that it is okay for us to drink alcohol, just not to get drunk. The question then becomes, is it helpful? Is it useful in building the Kingdom? Or is it detrimental to the Kingdom? If I drink in public and a non-believer, knowing that I am a Christian, sees me drinking, what will he be thinking? It does not matter if it is a sin or not. If he perceives my actions as being a sin, then I have caused my brother to stumble and have hurt my witness. And Paul tells us that is reason enough for us to not do something. As ambassadors of Christ, perception is often more important than reality, because it is the way the world perceives us that will affect our witness. What we wear is no different.

1 Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

James 2:2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

1 Pet 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Is 3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 The rings, and nose jewels,
22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the veils.

Zeph 1:8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

So there's just a few.
