I have a question. Why can one not listen to specifically Christian music? I mean, is it immoral to listen to Zeppelin or Floyd? How can it be? Is there something wrong with this music? The notes used cannot be immoral. I it the lyrics? And just because it is anti-Christian does not mean it is immoral. Is obedience the only virtue? Is obdeience even a virtue? If it is easier just make a list of bands that will not send me to hell.

I have a hard listening to just "christian" music. often times it lacks what other music has to offer...such as an original sound. but as many may say if it dosn't glorify God they will not listen to it...you can say you don't listen to the lyrics but beleive me you do remember them, If it dosn't sound good lyricaly and musicly i usualy don't listen to it...its not worth my time.

I hear ya. I know the lyrics need to sound good, but I'm referring to the actually meanings of the words. I know that even the meaning affects people on a literary level, but the music rarely suffers if the meaning is not harmonious with one's beliefs.

The reason why people advocate it, in a nutshell, is because they are promoting an ascetic lifestyle. Yes, we are supposed to be a counter-culture to the world. However, a believer is able to listen/watch something he doesn't think is right and still move on. If he can't, then he shouldn't be listening/watching said material.

For instance, I can listen to "Whole Lotta Love" and think, "Gee, Robert, you have a naughty mouth." But, I can move on from that, and just enjoy the music.

I think we can listen to non christian music, if it's something reasonable that don't take us away from our faith.

I listen dont liste to that much non-christian music, but If I listen I listen to stuff like... Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, U2, some Pink Flyod, Garth Brooks, Barcley James Harvest... and other stuff that is on the radio, or that friends have, or special songs that I think are very good...

I dont think it's a sin.

But then again, as a christian I am not pushed towards listening non-christian music. it does not give any "joy"... or strenghten my faith.

Somtimes I wonder why christian has that problem...
