  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was told by a friend that i should go to protestant church, then i ask what it is,cuz myself firstly came from charismatic church, he said the protestant is started by Martin Luther in 16th Century. he protested to Roman Catholic Church and back to bible truth , esp, Romans. That is v bible based church and not based on personal experience only. Knowing God is based on our rational mind/
then i was confused cuz Catholic is using different bible from christian? he said yes their doctrine is different from Protestant.and catholic church at that time has been away from biblical teaching so far away. They acted not like a Christian. Even the Pope did not read bible

So i m v confused now, if Catholic is using different bible already, why will Martin Luther protested against it?

don't join a new denomination because a person tells you too. each denomination will say theirs is the truth. the Bible is the truth. and charismatic is not really a denomination as some people would have you believe. It is fully believing the Bible and not discarding any part of the Bible. Not pretending the Holy Spirit doesn't work today when NHe does. non-denominational is also based on Bible not only experiences like somebody wants you to believe.

You are confused because the person who was talking to you was blending truth and falsehood. Many of these old stories have existed since the 16th century, when Martin Luther and other early protesters tried first to reform abuses that they saw within the Catholic Church and then later started churches of their own. At that time many lies were started by both sides (Catholic and Protestant) to try to persuade people that the other side was wrong. One of the lies started at that time was that the Catholic Church officials, including the Pope, did not read the Bible. Since Martin Luther himself was Catholic and a professor at a Catholic University and obviously had studied the Bible, this story is obviously false. All of Luther's training in scripture happened at the expense and under the tutelage of the Catholic Church. Luther's main point of contention with the Church that trained him was that he had a different interpretation of justification and salvation and how one obtained them. The Church was not going to change because of the viewpoint of one man and this led to the parting of the Church and Luther. If one assumes that either side was completely evil or irrational, then your view of this complicated time in history will be too extreme and will ultimately be biased.

Can anyone tell me when did the King James version bible come to earth?
and since Catholic church r using different bible,
and they each declare their bible is the only correct bible,

it is so confusing

I believe your original question on this thread was better answered in another forum on this site.

As for the Bible differences, the complete KJV was first published in 1611.

I don't know specifics about the Catholic Bible translations, but the main difference between the Catholic Bible and the typical Protestant Bible and the is that the Catholic Bible has the Apocrypha books and the Protestant Bible doesn't. That's not to say that there isn't any value to the Apocrypha, it's just they are not considered canon.

I don't think that the actual Bible text is different in a Catholic bible. Except that their bible probably includes some other books that the Protestant Bible usually doesn't have. But whatever books are the same, the text in them is the same.

I believe Martin Luther was protesting man made rules, rituals and traditions (for example, buying forgiveness, confessions...). He was not protesting actual Bible Text. Although I believe that Catholic church preferred people not to understand the actual bible text so they probably read from latin language bible, so that people didn't know what they heard. The pope then twists the words into the meaning that he desires. Martin Luther probably translated the bible into the common language.

Also, the way the Catholic church is different (and wrong) is that they teach praying to saints, (the Bible doesn't teach that), confessions to pope (the bible says that we can confess to each other), having pope be a mediator between God and people, (the bible says that Jesus is the mediator and that we can talk to God by ourselves through Jesus and not through pope.)
Catholics have many rituals in worship, whereas Jesus said that God desires spiritual worship (inward) not a bunch of outward rituals.
