So, if there's no movement at lightspeed, then the light of the sun is not actually traveling? But was already here when created and .......... and I'm losing my ability to comprehend my question much less guess at the answer.

That's just a calculation based on the known speed of light. if they put the number in "miles" it would be too large a number to deal with effectively.

I thought the light from the sun only took 8 minutes to reach us, but some of the light of the stars we see are dead stars.

God is beyond that which He created.

If light is a wave it does not actually travel, it undulates.

In order to grasp Relativity with enough gumption to go making theories, you must as the basest of pre-requisites have a solid background in Calculus and Euclidian Geometry.

Most of us don't have that.

My advice is to believe God for your salvation, have faith that His Word is true, and observe the philosophyof Einstein. Don't go mixing things up unless you want to get serious.

In short, don't pull a Kenneth Copeland in that area. You'll end up wasting your podium time telling people that dirt tries to grow dead wood when you could be telling people great things about God's Word.

I'm not trying to shoot this thread down--talking about this stuff is all great--but don't mix it with your faith. Don't mix anything with your faith unless you plan on getting serious with it.

I just wanted to pick someone's brain who was knowledgeable in these areas to see if Jesus was preaching about things we are now beginning to scratch the surface of in our study of physics.

I know enough to know that there is no "mixing," because there is nothing that is not already of God since he is the creator of everything, including all the laws of the universe.

So I just want to understand a little better how He works, the mechanics of why faith works, etc. Of course, I will never understand it with any degree of ...., because of He is unfathomable.

Maybe I will get serious. Why can I not ask questions first. There is no need to reply.

I think that's great that you can see God in physics...especially when just memorizing the theories boggle one's mind. It opens your mind to new heights that you've never thought of before. Who knew that matter were simply atoms bouncing around in space.
Or the power of wave lengths, or the power of magnetism/centrifical force...all this causing you think about your awsome Creator and His universe.

While it may be wrong to use logic and reasoning instead of Faith...I think tying what little we know of this world to God is a wonderful thing.

The equation E=mc2 doesn't say that matter is energy, or energy is matter, exactly. Rather it says that matter can be converted into energy (and possibly visa versa) and it gives a measurable basis for how much energy will result from converting a given amount of matter to energy.

Amount of Matter x Speed of Light(squared) = Energy output

In this equation Einstine discovered the physical fact that energy released from the break down of matter is immensely greater than the matter itself. Which is why a few pounds of plutonium can level an entire city and then some in a nuclear reaction.

what this deals with is the fact that all matter is composed of atoms, which in tern are composed of smaller particles. It is one of the strange and largely unexplainable facts of physics that the nucleus of an atom (the center mass of an atom) should not stay together, but rather should fly apart. There is some force of energy which holds the nucleus together. Science of course has come up with all sorts of ideas on this.
anyway, Einstine's equation deals with the energy that is released when that "binding force" is broken. When that binding force which essentially holds matter together is broken, matter is converted directly into energy, and the amount of energy released is truly awsome.

We with our limited knowledge and capability have only discovered how to do this with certain types of materials, known as fisionable matterials.. materials that are naturally radioactive.

It is virtually impossible to go the other way and convert energy into matter. First, as the equation shows us, it would take huge huge huge amounts of energy to even make a little matter. Just as a pound of matter can level a city, it would take enough energy to level a city, in order to make a pound of matter.
scientists have sort of created matter out of energy using particle accelerators, but this only creates random loose particles and as far as we know now its pretty much impossible to gather them together into atoms or anything above the sub-atomic level.
When attempting to create matter out of energy, scientists also run into the problem that the physical laws of the universe try to prevent this from happening. When matter is created in this way it is created in a matter/anti-matter pair, which immediately annihilates itself and turns back into energy.
It is possible to stop this reaction and scientists have captured tiny amounts of anti-matter by using magnetic fields.. but this is extremely difficult to do.

I don't believe there is a connection between E=MC2 and biblical teachings on faith. At least in any physical/literal sense.
However, I do think creation is all allegorical for God's truth, if properly understood.

think about this...

Vibration is not only the basis of energy (as proposed in the discussion thus far) but also of sound. Sound is a vibration, energy is vibration, light can be seen as a vibration (a wave), sound is also a wave.

We are told in Genesis how God spoke creation into being. We are told in the new testament that all things were created through Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God.
Also consider that the word for spirit in the bible is the same as the word for breath, and is linked to breathing.

It presents the image that God the Father spoke, the Son was the Word that he spoke, and the Spirit was the breath which formed the resonance, the vibration that energized the Word.
