Ok here's my problem. I don't drive and when I am at school (which is like 95% of the time) I do not live close to a Seventh Day Adventist Church. The closest one is like a 40 minute drive. SO while I'm at school I just go to the Baptist one down the street. Is this a bad thing to do? What else should I be doing instead if it is?

If that is the best you can do, then you can't be expected to do any more. Some spiritual friendship is better than none. However, as Sophia mentioned- its really important to remember what being an Adventist is all about. How do you keep sabbath? Are there any students nearby in the same situation that you can meet with sometimes?

Many years ago now I was in a similar situation.

The closest SDA Church was an 8 hours drive. At the time I did not have a car so visiting there was a real problem. To make matters worse there was only one Adventist family that was in the next town and that was not just around the corner.

I am saying this as a caution to you as it was the start of me growing cold and losing my way for many years.

My advice is be very careful how you spend the Sabbath day as I can verify from experience that the devil is a master at temptation.

Then I went to work at another place where it was no better for 8 years.

I would suggest that you contact your minister and some church members and tell them of your situation. I am sure someone will help you.

You maybe able to get tapes/dvd's of services that you can watch during the Sabbath hours.

We will all pray for you and let us know how it all goes.

Thanks everyone! I will double check each sabbath that I am indeed observing it the right way. :prayer: Fortunately, I only have one more year of college left, and the city I will be moving to after I graduate in April has a couple adventist churches, so it wont be much longer. One of my friends at school drives and she was saying she'd be interested in visiting the adventist church sometime, so hopefully she can drive me to one every so often just so I make sure I stay in touch.

You could go here and watch Sabbath services live every Sabbath:
http://www.saccentral.org/main/livestreaming.aspx like I said its live so during the time of the service there will be a link to watch it or you could to to www.amazingfacts.org and watch old sermons and other serverces like prophecy seminars. Also you could go here to my church site and listen or watch to a few sermons :) www.fwbadventist.org

I dont know of any adventist on campus and i dont think carpooling will work because I am definitely not getting in a car with strangers, even if they are taking me to Church lol. I wasn't sure about going to the Baptist Church, but since that is about the only one I can walk to, i figured it was better to go worship God some how. Besides, I can express my views on keeping the food and Saturday Sabbath laws in the Bible study classes before church! ;)

I myself visited the Non-denominational church for a while once instead of the SDA and even the Baptist. Going there didn't make me want to stop keeping the sabbath holy. So I think as others have said it is just important to remember that you are a SDA. Mainly pray about it (or more likely continue to) and wait, if after a while you feel that the church is pressureing you to change, then maybe I would question it being a good idea to go there otherwise Jesus will love you no matter what, and I belive that Jesus is at the Baptist service the same way he is at the Seventh Day Adventist service.
