  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, my husband and I "Aquired" 2 cats recently. Our neighbor was sent to live in a nursing home and her son gave us her cats. They're both fairly young (Under 2 he said!) And while up on shots and such, they are not fixed.

That is my first priority, however I know it can be pricey to do... does anyone know if vets will set up payment plans?

I'm planning on calling and asking, but thought I'd ask here first!

The Humane Society runs a saturday clinic in my city (Arizona). You can get them shots and fixed for next to nothing, but I hear there is a line...so have to be there early. Check your local chapter.

I am low income and I hear so many people say...go to the vet. I agree, but I wonder what seniors do. They NEED pets for company and many children do as well. Its a shame to deny them because the parents are low income or the seniors dont have the money to dish out when something seems wrong. Many times I take my cat to the vet and he doesnt know whats wrong. Sometimes they guess only to have to return again. gets expensive. I wish there was a better system for low income people to handle their pets when they have a need to see a dr.

Some vets will take a payment arrangement, but not all of them do. You have to call them and make arrangements first. Before any pet is neutered or spayed, they need to have a good exam to see if they are healthy enough to go through the anesthetic and surgery. If your cats are active, and a good healthy coat, that is an indicator they are healthy, but still check with the vet first.
