Question about Sin

This may sound like dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. Lets say you're saved right. (This an example).. But lets say you were driving and someone is in the car with you and you sin,for example lets say you cuss that person out. Then you have a car reck and die. Keeping in mind that the person was saved, but just committed a sin right before dying would he go to heaven or hell????

Basically all I want to know is, what if a saved person sins and then dies (without asking God's forgiveness from that sin) would they go to heaven still, or hell??
And what if you sin and five seconds later Jesus comes, would you go heaven or hell???

Do you supposed to to pray and ask forgiveness of sins every second? What if you sin and didn't realize it ?? (you know, one of those sins that you had no idea was a sin)

Is it possible living a sin-free life yes or no, if yes, How?

And if you don't live a sin-free life, example you still fall into temptation, or you commit a sin and don't even realize its a sin then what? heaven or hell?
What's your destination????

Why do people still sin if Romans says that after you get saved "sin SHALL have no dominion over you"? Yet people still sin? Does it mean they're not really saved or what?

And the bible says that "my people perish because of lack of knowledge" -- lack of knowledge of WHAT exactly??

Back it up with scriptures please.

I hope i'm not answering my own question when I say this, but it seems like the way the bible is talking, if you're saved and don't live a sin-free life, (maybe you just struggle and try to get it right all the way till he comes or something of that matter) seems like you still going to hell. True? or not?

I have some more questions too but after some responses. thanx

One thing before dissection: a saved person does not dive into sin, but will fall into it. There's no avoiding that.

for example's sake, let us assume that in doing so, you have sinned.
Then you have a car reck and die. Keeping in mind that the person was saved, but just committed a sin right before dying would he go to heaven or hell????
...very circumstantial. If the person was really saved and struggled with his flesh as opposed to embracing it, then I think they'd be in heaven, but not positive. you are pretty much asking for an almost unfair judgment...
Basically all I want to know is, what if a saved person sins and then dies (without asking God's forgiveness from that sin) would they go to heaven still, or hell??
...depends whether they live in that sin or apart from it. was it a dive or a fall? if a fall, it probably would've been repented of.
And what if you sin and five seconds later Jesus comes, would you go heaven or hell???
same thing
Do you supposed to to pray and ask forgiveness of sins every second? What if you sin and didn't realize it ?? (you know, one of those sins that you had no idea was a sin)
then when you realize it, you forsake it. but pretty much everyone knows through their conscience what is sin.
Is it possible living a sin-free life yes or no, if yes, How?
nope. read the top again
And if you don't live a sin-free life, example you still fall into temptation, or you commit a sin and don't even realize its a sin then what? heaven or hell?
What's your destination????
are you committed or using the blood of Christ as an occasion to sin?
Why do people still sin if Romans says that after you get saved "sin SHALL have no dominion over you"? Yet people still sin? Does it mean they're not really saved or what?
it means you fight it, and your master is really God as opposed to sin before salvation.
And the bible says that "my people perish because of lack of knowledge" -- lack of knowledge of WHAT exactly??
...context would be nice. :)
Back it up with scriptures please.
not familiar with it. could you refresh my memory with context?
I hope i'm not answering my own question when I say this, but it seems like the way the bible is talking, if you're saved and don't live a sin-free life, (maybe you just struggle and try to get it right all the way till he comes or something of that matter) seems like you still going to hell. ...read top :). no one can live sin-free. Paul talked humbly about his flesh still having a hold (limited) on him
I have some more questions too but after some responses. thanx

ive heard that in when you die, if *jesus is in your heart then jesus will not deny you or say friend or something and you'll go to heaven. if *jesus isn't in your heart then jesus will say i do not know you or something and you be in hell. sounds easy. ive come to learn nothings easy though. im not sure if this is true or what all happens. one reason im here is to make christain friends and learn more about god...

*jesus is(n't) in your heart - you believe (dont believe) in jesus

The best way I've ever heard that question answered is with another question: "Do you actually think that God would wait for someone to sin and then let them die and go to hell when they would have otherwise gone to heaven?" God knows the moment when each of us will die, and I'm trusting that He has everything planned well enough that those people who are saved won't become "unsaved" on some technicality just before they die. I'm trusting that He'll take care of His own.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Do you supposed to to pray and ask forgiveness of sins every second? What if you sin and didn't realize it ?? (you know, one of those sins that you had no idea was a sin)

Until we get to heaven, I don't think that any of us are going to manage a completely sin-free life, even after becoming Christians. The good thing is that there is forgiveness for us, so even though we can't be righteous on our own, we can have Jesus' righteousness as our own. Paul struggled with the same kind of issue you've presented here, and this is what he wrote about it:

Romans 7:14 - 8:3

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,

And the bible says that "my people perish because of lack of knowledge" -- lack of knowledge of WHAT exactly??

Back it up with scriptures please.

Well, look at it in context and you tell me what you think it means:
Hosea 4

Feel free to look at the passage in other Bible versions too. That often helps me to figure out what it's saying :)

I hope i'm not answering my own question when I say this, but it seems like the way the bible is talking, if you're saved and don't live a sin-free life, (maybe you just struggle and try to get it right all the way till he comes or something of that matter) seems like you still going to hell. I would say not. If you're going to hell, it means you're not saved. So if you are saved, it means you're not going to hell. It's important to do your best to please God and to try to live a sin-free life, but if you mess up God will forgive you, even if you need forgiveness for the same thing over and over and over again. If He didn't keep forgiving us, none of us would have any chance of getting into heaven as even the very best Christians do sin occasionally. But as I said before, it is God's righteousness that we get to rely on, not our own. And with God, all things are possible :)

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. <-----> 1st John 2:1-6

Hi twirla ,

What complicates what is , from what seems to be , is the human tendency to claim more about ourselves than is appropriate .

This is compounded by the zeal for increasing the numbers of congregations , etc.

Salvation is not something which can rightfully be referred to as something in our past exclusively .

For while it is critical that there be a starting point for our receiving of the grace to believe ; it is equally critical that we endure the trials , tribulations , and chastisements which come upon all who believe .

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. <-----> Matthew 24:9-13

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister . <-----> Colossians 1:21-23

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not ? <-----> Hebrews 12:7

What happens is that faith in our selves , is sometimes sustituted for faith in God .

This is evidenced , by professing that sinning is unavoidable , yet inconsequential - For all things are possible with God .

Rightly put , it should be , sinning is avoidable , with consequence , for all things are possible with God .

Why would Jesus tell the woman caught in adultery - " Go and sin no more " , if sinning is unavoidable ? ( See John 8:11 also 5:14 )

Why does John in the verse quoted atop this post say , he wrote so that we sin not , if sin is inevitable ? Why did he say " if " any man sin ? Why didn't he say " when " any man sins ?

Why did Peter describe those " who cannot cease from sin " as "cursed children " if everyone is bound to keep on sinning ? ( See 2nd Peter 2:14 )

Through many claiming to be something while they were yet nothing , the sanctification of God's people has been perceived from a poor vantage point , so that the miracle of Salvation is reduced to being saved from feelings of guilt and condemnation , instead of being saved from the very things which cause those feelings !

I really see Satan's signature in the emphasis which tries to calm us over concerns with the presence of sin in our life .

The Devil has two basic stategies :

1. Try to make us feel hopelessly addicted to sin and certainly condemned .

2. Try to make us feel comfortable with sin , and certainly not condemned .

The truth is , sin which we don't repent of can indeed condemn us ; but God will greatly assist us in the receiving of the changed mind necessary for genuine and lasting repentance to be established and preserved in our life .

This is the nature of the Salvation of God in Jesus Christ , as has been given me to understand .

As far as hypotheticals , the variables are too many to be specific .

Nor is it easy to judge an individual's situation , but the spirit in which a thing is done , is telling .

I suppose , ultimately our fate rests with the degree of mercy God is willing to dispense on our behalf ; which would be reflective of how well we received Christ , the degree of the measure of the faith given us , how long have we been aware of God's will , how willing have we been to submit to that will ; and the attitude we have towards our falling short - Do we wallow in self-pity ? Or rationalize and harden our heart ? Or truly sorrow and mourn , in the longing for Christ's righteousness to be effectually in us ?

I pray this is understandable and helpful to you ,

Once you have Jesus as Savior, every sin you ever commit, from the begining of your life to the end, is covered by the blood of Jesus. God will keep you.

2Ti 1:12 ..for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Amen, Raphe!

For salvation, God looks on all of us as falling into one of two catagories: Covered by the Blood of Christ and Not Covered by the Blood of Christ. If you are covered by the blood of Christ, you will go to heaven and be with God forever.

All of us, except for babies, will die with unrepented sin in our lives, if only becasue we are often unaware of how we have sinned. While God knows of all of our sins, because He knows everything about us, when you die, He will only check to see which catagory you are in - Covered or Not Covered.

We still need to repoent of our sins. We still need to strive to live a life as much like Christ as possible, but we do not need to live in fear that our place in heaven is in jeopardy becasue we have not repented of every sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
<-----> 1st John 1:8+9

Beware of claims of being " in the faith " , " under grace " , " Spirit filled " , " washed in the Blood " etc . ; which lack effectual personal results , as described in Scripture .

Note above : John clearly states that The Lord is Faithful to forgive & to cleanse us from all unrighteousness ; not some , or most , but all.

The power of Jesus' Blood is capable of being effectual in it's cleansing of all our unrighteousness ; if we aren't being cleansed , or haven't been cleansed , it can only be because of our lack of faith , or unwillingness to surrender our life into The Lord's hands .

Just how much unbelief and unwillingness is God going to allow for ?

I for one have no compulsion to find out !

For once someone finds that limit - they've lost out - Big Time !

Consider these staments by the Apostle Paul -

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints . <-----> Ephesians 5:3

Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. <-----> Ephesians 3:7

The connection between the degree with which God works in the effectual cleansing of all our unrighteousness , and how real our faith is , cannot be overlooked !

It is through believing , unto our being cleansed , that the power of God is realized and demonstrated .

Those who do not believe unto receiving the effectually cleansed soul , have denied the power of God , from performing the very thing Jesus died and rose again for to make available to us .

Ever wonder why the modern profession of faith is generally lacking any divine power ?

It is because the cleansing isn't there .

Satan would have us believe the cleansing is unnecessary , or even impossible .

So that we remain in this spiritually powerless state . Where he can easily " point and shoot " us in the direction of sin , and prevent the testimony of Jesus from breaking down the barriers of fearfulness and unbelief .

The Spirit of God does not treat sin in our life as " no big deal " , cause we're saved either way . That is Satan's emphasis .

I know because before I began to Know the Lord , I began to know the Devil , personally . His voice and nature of emphasis is quite familiar to me .

Even if , we are still saved , in spite of our lack of cleansing ; are we to be relaxed towards our sin ?

Is my Salvation just for me ?

Or is God going to have us give an account , for how we witnessed unto others ?

Was it with lightness , and indifference , towards the things for which Christ died ?

Will people of other religions , which teach morality , have any compulsion to embrace a form of christianity which does not demonstrate the virtue and character of Christ ?

The reasoning that says , " I'm saved , so a little sin now and again , doesn't hurt " ; is the spirit of slumber , seeking to make of us " a tree which bears no good fruit ".

And we are warned in several places in Scripture , about how The Lord will deal with trees which have borne no good fruit .

( See Matthew 3:10 + 7:17-19 + 21:19-22 )

Note : a tree here represents someone whose had time to grow and mature , being watered , nourished , and in the bright sunlight , but did not allow the grace of God to purify them of the selfish sin in their life , and consequently could not develop good fruit which could be utilized by others to nourish , refresh , and strengthen their walk with the Lord , to the purifying of their own souls as well , so that they too could bring forth good fruit ; and the precious cycle be not broken .

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
<-----> John 1:11+12

They who have ears to hear , let them hear .

In Jesus' Name . Amen .

If I may, I think that Wayfaring man is telling you that because Jesus covers our sins, it is not a liscense to go and sin. When we stumble and make mistakes as we go through life, we cannot help but stumble because of the flesh we live in, but we cannot willfully sin without being chastised for that sin. Sin has a high price. Jesus paid it for us in full, but we can NOT take His blood and name in vain and have a low regard for it. He suffered for us, and we cannot disregard His sacrifice for our sins or take it lightly.
I use Galatians 5:17 many times when explaining the problem we all have with sin in our lives. The New Living Translation puts it in an easy to understand paragraph:

Gal. 5:17 The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict.

So we are in a fight with the sin that dwells in our flesh, and we have to fight the good fight so that we can be overcomers:

Re 3:21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Re 21:7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

We overcome sin by the blood of the lamb and the testimony we have of truely fighting the "good fight" Paul spoke of to Timothy. God has gracefully provided for us the covering for our sins in Jesus, but He expects our testimony to be that we are fighting agaist sin and evil in our own lives and in the lives of others in the world by going and telling others about the Good News of Jesus and teaching them to do the things written about in scripture:

Re 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Mr 16:15 And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.

Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Fishstix, thanx for your reply it really helped alot. and i just read that chapter in Romans like last week (king james) so i didn't know what the it was talking about!!! i have a new bible now, some guy was passing them out at school along with other stuff and its a WHOLE lot easier to understand so thanx for your post now i feel more assured and confident. If i would go to hell over 1 little sin I be like, God, I'm giving up there's no use, who is going to heaven?

But i was reading exekiel chapter 18 it was talking about if you're righteous and you go back to your old ways and sin again then you will die. but if the sinnr turns away and does right he will live check it out and dont read king james Ez 18:4,20,24,26
and Ez. 7:9,13,27. now tell me what you think!! Its like when you read one chapter you're like, ok my life is og with God I can have assurance that I'll be there when he comes, but when you read this you start to feel like.. ok maybe I need to check myself I could be going to hell with the rest of them. so i don't know, i just be fighting with the verses, well this says this and that says that so which one is it. hell or not?

wayfaring man you wrote:
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. <-----> 1st John 2:1-6

I found this in the bible too and I know that I don't keep every last one of his commandments so . Just like in james it says you can keep the whole law but if you get one of them wrong then you guilty of ALL. (like its in jam chapter 3) That makes it seem like no matter what you do you still going to break one of his commandments and so you're going to be guilty of all still??
And when he says "commandments" is he referring to the 10 commandments or all the rest of them too ?

The truth is , sin which we don't repent of can indeed condemn us ; but God will greatly assist us in the receiving of the changed mind necessary for genuine and lasting repentance to be established and preserved in our life

So, to repent means to feel sorry and turn away from your sins for good right? ? So if you don't truely repent, or still struggle with whatever then you still condemned? i dont know im confusing myself here. nevermind

raphe says,
Once you have Jesus as Savior, every sin you ever commit, from the begining of your life to the end, is covered by the blood of Jesus. God will keep you.

Well the way i understood it is that everything you done in the past (before you got saved) is covered by his blood (when you get saved) but all the sins after that you just ask forgiveness. but it you keep struggling or want to give up or whatever i think that is a different topic. i think thats where the "choose or lose" comes in at

Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

hm.mmm........ i hope so!

For salvation, God looks on all of us as falling into one of two catagories: Covered by the Blood of Christ and Not Covered by the Blood of Christ. If you are covered by the blood of Christ, you will go to heaven and be with God forever.
yay!!

BUT, i just hope i can make it.. endure to the end and not give up..

All of us, except for babies, will die with unrepented sin in our lives, if only becasue we are often unaware of how we have sinned.
ok what do you mean unrepented sins? the sins you never turned from for good (saved or not?)

We still need to strive to live a life as much like Christ as possible,
well the only thing i can object to is that I'm still young and still want to go out, party (i dont drink/smoke though) and wear my cute lil outfits @!!! But tooo bad God wants us to have a dress code. I cant war certain things i can fell god telling me no don't wear that! But I'm like its too hot outside I have to show some skin. I'm an outdoor person but i love fashion too . I dont want to cover up but I dont want to show too much either.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. <-----> 1st John 1:8+9
good reminder! thanx

gotta go but thanx all for your replies they really helped and i feel more assured. BUT i'm still stumped over the ephesians chapteer 18 and the chapter in james that says if you don't do one law you're guilty of all (something like that) what can you say about this?

Hi twirla ,

Once again , it's good that you're concerned for the sake of your souls sake ; and do not want to be conned into a false sense of security , nor over whelmed by a sense of impossibility .

Well , here's another way to describe the way of Salvation .

When we accept Christ ( Holy Spirit ) into our life , we have a guide , built right in to our spirit , and He speaks to us through our mind and our conscience .

If we are receptive to this leading , we are directed to make the choices and sacrifices which cause our soul to develop into the likeness of Christ .
That is , honest , thoughtful , fair , loving , kind , compassionate , diligent to do good , steadfast in resisting temptation to do evil , etc . etc .

Once , in a vision , I saw The Lord standing before me , while I sat alone at a picnic table , I felt a bit afraid to look straight up at Him so my head was bowed down a little ; but I was glad for the vision , and wanted to talk with The Lord : So I said , " Lord , I've really come a long way haven't I ?" [ cause to me it seemed as if I had ] But He replied , " My son , you've barely taken a few steps ".With that I looked up a bit at Him standing tall before me ; and He held out His arms in the spreading out of a scroll about 1 foot wide and 2 feet long ; and said , " There is a whole list of things which must be accomplished in your life , but you are only able to bear one or two of them at a time ." Then I cast my glance downward for a moment , and when I looked up again , He was gone .

Then the Holy Spirit ministered to me the understanding that there are many things which need to be changed about us , before we can fit in to the spirit and beauty of God's Kingdom ; and there is a distinct order to which of those things are to be addressed first , second , third etc . , And that God is willing and able to see us through the whole list ; as long as we are willing to trust in His leading . but what often causes us to fail to make progress is that we are out of sync with the order which The Lord is seeking to address us in ; ( like when from my own infatuation of feeling I'm far along on the path of Sanctification ) , causes me to focus on something which is say # 163 on the list , when The Spirit of God is seeking to have me focus on # 7 . This causes our mind , our spirit , to be out of time with The Holy Spirit and The Mind of Christ . And makes progress to any degree extremely unlikely .

This is how our faith should work - We should realize that , with God all things are possible ( especially all things which are good and redeeming in nature ! )

Then by being in tune with what the Lord is emphasizing does need our attention we , together with Him , working in us , can go about a systematic cleansing and resurrecting of our life from the inside out !

He supplys the power and the inspiration , we complete the circuit by accepting , agreeing , and adopting His Way and His Judgment .

This is akin to the parable in Matthew 13:33 <---> ...The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

[Read the whole Chapter for better understanding or this matter also . ]

The leaven here is good , ( leaven sometimes represents sin ), but here it is representing faith .

1. Faith to behold Christ = acceptance ( As Jesus said , if I be lifted up , I will draw all men unto me .) [ See John 12:32 ]

2. Faith to believe on Jesus = agreement ( Can two walk together , except they be agreed ? ) <---> From Amos 3:3

3. Faith to receive Jesus = adoption ( Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him . )<-----> John 14:23

There is some confusion over misinterpreting acceptance of Jesus for adoption of Jesus .

Largely because between the two is agreeing with Jesus , and that is where the sinful side of humanity likes to cut corners , sometimes to the point of resorting to outright denial of the truth .

As long as we are progressing along these avenues of Salvation , we have confidence that , were we to die today , it will be well with our soul : for God can easily add time to the quotient . In other words , if we are allowing the Spirit to lead us in the saving and recreating of our soul , the fact that we may suddenly die , from something we did not sinfully cause or forsee happening , is not condemning .

But if we are not accepting and agreeing with the Lord's leading ( and by this I mean what we're personally convicted of by The Word of The Lord within ourselves ), then that's where the doubt arises ; and rightly so ; for God does not will for us to be confident while in a state of rebellion to His revealed will . The doubtfulness is meant to alert us - something's wrong !

The only honest way for the doubts to go away , is to let go of the things which cause our spiritual cleansing and rebuilding to come to a halt .

There are some delusions / deceptions which can make the doubts seem to go away ; but I cannot recommend them .

All that we need , to be fully transformed into Christ's likeness is freely given us , for that one and self-same purpose .

Can it be difficult at times ? Why , yes , it can !

Is there another alternative which will bring about the same results ?

Why , no , there isn't !

That's why it can be difficult , otherwise we could just switch sides ;( every time a situation came along which made being faithful with what we've been given appear to be a cross we need bare ).

Regarding dress , modest apparell ( See 1st Timothy 2:9 ) is the general rule .

If it's hot to wear long sleeves etc. that may be a just cause , yet , we are to look out for how others are being affected by the choices we make .

And it sounds like Twirla , in your case , you tend to savor the attention that comes with being a bit showy . Which is an altogether different type of , trying to stay cool .

If this is something The Lord is impressing on your heart , that should be given your attention , for the sake of being more in agreement with Christ's character , then you should indeed , prayerfully seek resolution in this matter . So you can move on and be blessed with the awareness that progress is being made in your being transformed in The Lord so that you can serve God acceptably with confidence .

Well That's All For Now , May The Lord Be Pleased To Bless .

Hi again ,

Ouote from Twirla :
I found this in the bible too and I know that I don't keep every last one of his commandments so . Just like in james it says you can keep the whole law but if you get one of them wrong then you guilty of ALL. (like its in jam chapter 3) That makes it seem like no matter what you do you still going to break one of his commandments and so you're going to be guilty of all still??
And when he says "commandments" is he referring to the 10 commandments or all the rest of them too ?

In the New Testament God's Law hasn't changed , but the emphasis has gone from largely being of " the letter " in The Old Testament , to being of " the spirit " in The New .

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. <-----> Matthew 7:12

This is the spirit of the law , ( as best as can be put into words . )

The letter of the law would be if every likely scenario that could be conceived , wherein one would either honor or fail to honor this principle , would be addressed in detail .

This was necessary , before the Spirit of God was poured out ,( as a direct result of Christ's Atoning Sacrifice ).

Now instead of seeking to match our behavior with every aspect of every statute . The Holy Spirit leads and guides us , thought to thought , moment to moment ; and addresses the core components of sin , or obedience to God ; rather than deal mostly with the outward manifestations of either .

But we are also warned that the punishment for dismissing the Holy Spirit's leading , is even more severe than was the breaking of the law as was given to Moses .

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
<-----> Hebrews 10:28+29

This is because much more has been given to us , in The New Testament ; and it is through believing on Jesus following the leading of His Holy Spirit , than our Salvation becomes personally effectual .

The penalty for breaking the law in the Old Testament was physical death = death of the body .

The consequence of denying the Holy Spirit from leading us in the Way which is Christ , is spiritual death = death of the soul .

God is longsuffering to usward , as Peter wrote . ( See 2nd Peter 3:9 + 15 )

Yet , let us not confuse God's Patience , with His permission !

Lest we fail of the grace of God . ( See Hebrews 12:15 )

Sincerely ,

wm

You would go to heaven. If you are saved you are covered for life...if you sin, it won't be held against you because you are saved by faith through grace. Christ's blood covers all sins forever and ever.

You can come close to living sin-free, but because we are born sinful, it's impossible to be completely sin-free.
