  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I've got 148 Queen songs on my ipod so that would indicate a big  from me.

As for Freddie, I'll leave "hotness" determination to others but I sincerly believe he was the greatest vocalist of the rock era.

I haven't listened to any of the stuff with Paul Rogers singing--it just wouldn't be Queen without Freddie.

Queen is my favorite band of all time. I don't think anything else on the planet compares to the genius of their music.

Freddie had the most amazing voice. He was pretty much my vocal trainer growing up and to this day, I still practice with him and they continue to be the biggest inspiration in my own music.

I finally got to see Queen live for the first time this year. It was great and sad at the same time. Sadly, I was too young to ever see Queen when they were touring as their last show was when I was 5, but it was still awesome seeing and hearing them. But you're right, it isn't the same with Paul Rogers singing and John Decon not there...

I hope they know how much they mean to some people.

Freddie Mercury had a beautiful voice.
Whenever I hear Bohemian Rhapsody it gives me chills. It's as if he was seeing his future. He died of complications from AIDS, and years earlier he wrote:

Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine,
Bodys aching all the time.
Goodbye everybody-Ive got to go.
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.
Mama ooo....I dont want to die,
I sometimes wish Id never been born at all.

It's so interesting. Sad too. I just love his voice.

Freddie was an amazing amazing singer. The band queen will NEVER have equals in rock. They had edge but didn't sound too dirty; they had beauty but it didn't sound too light; they had ability...pfffft! More than the entire pop-punk crowd of 2000-2004.

And brian may....who was THAT guy? I'm shocked no one has mentioned him yet. He was the main writer wasn't he? I'm pretty sure he also did a great deal of producing for them giving them the sound.

Favorite Queen song....
If you are looking for a good time: Fat bottom Girls

If you are looking to try to comprehend the SHEER GENIUS of production that was Brian May:
Good Company (off night at the Opera).
I cover that song with my acoustic guitar...that song is a JOY to play!

Whenever I hear Bohemian Rhapsody it gives me chills. It's as if he was seeing his future. He died of complications from AIDS, and years earlier he wrote:
I wonder if he had heard about becoming HIV positive when he had writen his bits...it seems just uncanny.

the first record I bought was Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975.

in 1975 (when Queen penned and released Bohemian Rhapsody) no-one had even heard of HIV or Aids . So the answer is no, the bits (lyrics) Adiya quoted were accidental.

However , this song was written with the absolute knowledge that Freddie only had a short time to live and that is why fans were stunned when this hit came out.

The Show Must Go On

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for...
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on,
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens, Ill leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess Im learning, I must be warmer now
Ill soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark Im aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on
The show must go on
Ill face it with a grin
Im never giving in
On - with the show -
Ill top the bill, Ill overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...

Their Live Aid set was their greatest show, and personally, the greatest show of all time followed closely by Wembley 86 and the Tribute Concert. The pure energy from every single person in that stadium could be felt even watching it today.

Through the whole recording process of Innuendo, I've heard multiple people talk about how difficult it was for Freddie. He would record a few minutes and have to sit down because he was so drained. You can tell throughout the whole album that he knew he was dying. He really put all his passion and energy into it.

As for Brian, he's an amazing mind and guitarest. Probably one of the top in the world, and one of the best song writers. He did write a great amount of Queen's songs, tis true. :)
