  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My first post on The Box Office; I'm not a fanatical movie watcher though I enjoy the occasional film! However, I am a second year history degree student taking one module in film and British national identity. I have a presentation to do on 19th March and I've chosen Quadrophenia as the film I will be presenting. Any film buffs got any tips? I'm aware that I could easily slip into an historical perspective on the Mods but I have to include more of a media aspect especially with regard to British identity. Thanks!

You've already done your presentation, so I guess this post is pointless, but I would have suggested Tommy if you felt so inclined to incorporate The Who! I love Tommy and really couldn't stand Quadrophrenia. You also could have done one of the many great Beatles films, the best being A Hard Day's Night.

And excluding music, The Third Man is considered one of the greatest British films ever made. And "If...." is considered to capture British society. Also "Blowup" for swinging London in the 60s. :)
